ok...to make a long story short, when my ex moved out, he left all of his furniture. pretty much dumped the responsibility of finding a way to get rid of it on me. I called salvation army...i thought no problem. they came..would not take all of it. left the sectional couches and a big bookshelf. i called 3 other donation places..said if salvation army wouldn't take it, they won't either. callled 1800junk..they want over $100 to haul it away..which 1) i don't have and 2)even if i did why should i pay to haul his crap hauled. i'm moving on thursday..it's tuesday...
ideas????

Send out invitations to a "trash my furniture" party.

devilmunchkin
29-08-2006, 17:27:33
would that work with 2 days til i move?

paiktis22

if you know who will rent the place after you, you can propose to leave it to him/her if he wants and charge him a little something

Seriously, if the furniture is worthless, ask some friends to help you take it apart and drive it to the junkyard.

Put it out on the curb.. if you are near college students it will all disappear.

or you can just leave them there and leave

devilmunchkin
29-08-2006, 18:00:57
i can't leave them in here or i won't get my deposit back (yes, i was the one who put the deposit down on this place). i will need to find a way to haul it out of here and to the garbage...but i don't think i can't do it by myself.

Leave it on the curb with a giant FREE sign on it. People will take anything with a giant FREE sign.

If you are worried about the hauling after breaking it down, you can always burn it...though that may also have an effect on your security deposit......

you can just go to a near by college/university and make a big note that says: completely free furniture (write which), offer ends in two days, the fastest gets it! (you can accomodate the meaning in english better) and leave you mobile number.

paiktis22
29-08-2006, 18:14:12
you can do that even today!
(and of course they will carry it out)

DM, I'll send a PM with my phone number. Call me and I'll come over with a truck and a few friends and we'll find a way to get rid of the stuff.

devilmunchkin

Ship it COD to your Ex.

devilmunchkin
29-08-2006, 23:05:54
cod?

oh and the entertainment center is gone. just waiting on the couches. ppl should be coming by in an hour..

i guess my problem is that even though he's moved out, he's not changed a bit. he says he's doing for himself now..but i'm the one who's had to clean up after him. it's just rather irritating.

I did that once. I just ripped the fabric off the couch (it was a cheap couch), and just smashed (in some cases I had to saw) it apart.

another time I just left it for the landlord. :). I lost my security deposit, but oh well.

I'd help you out if you weren't so far away. Move closer, and I'd be happy to help. :)

COD = Cash on Delivery

You can send things to people and they have to pay to pick it up.

Put a fake name on it and I bet they would pay just to see what it was!

But you could put a dead cod in the couch before you send it as well.

devilmunchkin
30-08-2006, 02:34:35
well..furniture is gone now
but i couldn't send it COD because he refuses to tell me his address

Greg W
30-08-2006, 12:07:10
Oh, and one last piece of advice. Kick him in the balls.

Okay, make that two pieces. ;)

If something goes bad again, don't email him or try and contact him in any way. It's letting him know that he got one over on you. It's unlikely to happen again, but I thought I'd pass this on anyway. Glad to hear it got sorted. :)

Chris

Hard.

There are no problems that can't be solved with the quick and merciless application of a lightsaber
