I've got this picture which my wife took, and unfortunately she focused on the background instead of me. Clara looks reasonably in focus, but my face is way to blurry.

http://www.regad.org/temp\PICT0133.jpg

Any suggestions as to how can I improve this in Photoshop ?

(if the reduced picture above is not good enough for you to see what I'm talking about, let me know and I can upload the 1.8MB original)

I do have a tip:

print a small Clara don't touch the camera sticker on your camera

What's wrong with taking another picture?

Just add the caption; "Face blurred due to reasons of National Security".

I thought that's just how Red's face looked all the time.

beyond help I would have thought - the unsharpen mask is not going to save it.

Photoshop CS2 has a new deblurring tool that apparently can recue some degree of movement blur or focus blur but I've not seen a copy to try it.

That image isn't showing, one of the slashes was the wrong way round... this should work.

you mean, make it blurrier?
;)

No, I think it's right as it should be, it conveys the fuzzy joy and bliss of a nursing father.

Cute picture, red. She's got quite a tan, it seems? That bath looks handy. Too bad she will be grown out of it in a month or so. :D Incredible how fast those little ones grow.

It's not saveable as a conventional picture, possibly at really, really low-res.

You could pretend it's a piece of art and fuck around with cutout masks etc.

I'm disappointed this isn't about those new Fidel Castro pictures.

The focus is fine, have you seen the CG meet pics?

It looks like you had the aperture wide open. While doing that increases the available light, it also cuts the depth of field greatly.

Try taking the shot again, using a reduced aperture; switch to a higher ISO (say, 400) if it seems too dark, or try a longer shutter time.

Thanks but taking the picture again is not an option... It was taken over 4 weeks ago at the hospital and my daughter just does not quite look the same anymore... Hence the request for Photoshop assistance.

Can't you just get another baby?

The Mad Monk

Sorry, I don't think Photoshop can help.

I'd grab another baby.

Take a picture of yourself, without the baby, in the same position. Then superimpose yourself.

Japher
17-08-2006, 19:25:06
or even better

take a picture of a good lookin' guy, without the baby, in the same position and superimpose him over you!

Colon
17-08-2006, 20:19:36
Or even better than better

Imagegoogle for another picture of a baby and a father and superimpose that over the original one.
