Alright, I've wasted shitloads of time playing football manager games in the past. Especially Premier Manager 2 I've played very, very often, and I still occasionally do so although it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. Since then I've also played some others, but none of them really grabbed me as much as PM2. Anyway, I don't have a PC at home now but I'm thinking of getting a laptop in the very near future, so some football managing game would be nice as well. Any recommendations on what to get?

The most recent Football Manager. It's the one made by the old Championship Manager people.

I expect a new one will be released somewhere near the start of the new season, right?

Yeah, that looks good.

Does Football Manager only include the English leagues or can you also play in foreign competitions?

it has pretty much every league and team in the world

you could carve out a name for yourself managing some indonesian second division team if you like

Of course that is once you been fired by Ajax (replace favourite dutch team here) and they are the only people who will hire you.

Does anyone know if these games are available in the US?

Yes, Football Manager is called Worldwide Soccer Manager in the US.

Awesome, you truly are the "Man with Encyclopaedic Knowledge" =D

Encylcopaedic, is harder to type than I thought it'd be.

I bought Football Manager 06 yesterday and started my first season with FC Groningen. I'm doing fairly well so far, mid-table with a team that was one of the relegation candidates according to the game. Lots of problems with unhappy players though, mostly people who want to join a bigger club. Really enjoying it, made a few bargain buys and I bought my mate Sieme Zijm. :D
