The place where the rabbits photo was taken was fucking scary.

Belfast Phil is no relation, honest.

Definitely a hidden part of the town centre, and with good reason. Still, at least it's all being knocked down.

The rabbits... it's all a bit Donnie Darko

Those weren't the only rabbits, they were on all 4 walls of that lift waiting area bit. Loads of them. Bizarrely none on any of the other floors. The rabbits coupled with the dead body incident mean it's unlikely I'm going back in that carpark in a hurry.

Looks nice! A shame I missed it in when I was in Reading. Also, is there any spectacular story to the dead body incident or was there just a body found somewhere in that dump?

King_Ghidra

the rabbits did it

Debaser

No, not particularly exciting, but scary at the time. I was climbing the stairs to the top of that carpark to take some pictures of the views across Reading (which I didn't bother to do in the end 'cos the view's not very exciting). I passed that rabbit place on the 8th floor, and as I got to the 15th floor I saw what initially thought to be loads of rubbish on the landing area. As I got closer I thought i saw a shop dummy lying in the rubbish. That'll be a good photo I thought, so I began walking towards it. "HOLY FUCK!" I suddenly thought to myself, "IT'S A FUCKING DEAD BODY!". Turns out it was just a naked asleep homeless guy lying amongst loads of his stuff. I realised this pretty quick, but for a few seconds I was genuinly terrified. After visiting the roof I came down all 15 floors via the car exit ramps so as to avoid the stairs.

Incidentally I have only ever seen one dead body in my life, and that was a guy who killed himself by jumping off the roof of that very same carpark. It's clearly a very wrong place.

Maybe he drew the rabbits.

Your mate was telling us how his car broke down in there, and so he went to find tarpaulin to put over it. Only he couldnt find any suitable tarpaulin, so he wrapped clingfilm all over his car....

It had me laughing my ass off - it was in the pub at like 4pm when I came to see Muf live.

it was in the post, a cop on a bike bust a dealer round there the other day

the article veered between a strange of ignorance of the fact that every single person in reading knows you can buy drugs there, plus a strangely knowing aspect of the dealers operations and setup (the look-outs, walkie-talkie stuff and the mention of a large queue of buyers before the bust)

i came out of it confirming my belief that mandela is part of an arrangement between the drug dealers and the vice cops, but also believing that the low-level cops are not part of the arrangement and genuinely believe they are fighting crime there

I did hear an unsubstantiated rumour that Thames Valley Police have it under observation, basically to ensure there are no hard drugs and it's just weed.

Maybe the guy was out of skunk and tried to sell the cop resin so he busted him.

Nills Lagerbaak
20-07-2006, 15:50:09
 that is the most likely explanation. Man the number of times I've wanted to bust them when they'd run outta skunk...

Funko
20-07-2006, 15:50:09
I'm surprised that on the way out of Mandela the policeman wasn't held up by a group of unsavoury youths who demanded the weed he's just bought, his money, his phone and his bicycle.

A very odd link I found when googling for Reading pics for RC's thread.

Update, May 2006: Recently somebody said to me that it seemed to be quite amusing that this cemetery was in an area of town called Cemetery Junction, and they remarked how coincidental it was that the cemetery should be situated in that important confluence of major roads which have that name. Duh!! I felt that the only reply I could give to such a rather silly comment was that, of course, the original builders of the cemetery built it right there exactly BECAUSE there was some spare land right next to what had already been called Cemetery Junction. Double duh! Sometimes the chicken and egg question has such an obvious answer, but apparently not to this person.

I think it's wonderful, and clearly it's bringing joy to others too.

You know i wish the tramp who sits in a pool of his own piss on Elgar rd would sit in a pool of his own piss on that bridge, That would be an awesome shot.
