http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/2006/06/14/what_has_been_your_worst_job.html

I used to work in the home office of my employer who was a little mad (would retire to her room with a bottle of whisky on full moon days). Her sick mother came to stay once and she died on the sofa in the living room.

I found her and went to tell my boss that I thought her mother had had an attack, and that she might have died.

She answered "You THINK she might have died, go and check".

So I had to go up to her and check she was dead. Which she was. At which point my boss got a bottle of something strong and retired to her room, telling me to call an ambulance. The next week I was put in charge of funeral arrangements.

my actual job was in fact client prospecting and advising, not arranging bosses mum's funeral.

This was one of the many nightmarish events while working for her, but this is the one which encouraged me to resign.

Tough to say. Either my current job, or working as a hot cook at a shitty restaurant chain.

Oh I was a soccer ref too. That sucked. Don't yell at me Mr Mom or I'll let your kid get his leg broken.

I have fun at whatever I'm doing.

And I'm not dumb enough to take a job I wouldn't like.
Or not smart enough to realize when my job sucks.

Working in a Cannery.

There were times I crawled through bean goop to spray down the machines. Other times that I (Red-Green colorblind) looked for red spots on green cucumbers (surprise surprise, I never found any).

Besides the noise, the eat, the smell. I would work for 8 hours and unable to do anything but watch TV or read a bit...

I actually hardly remember it because it was so terrible. My second worse job (distant 2nd) was being a dishwasher at a crappy pizza place. The back room was like a garbage area.. (I had to throw away my shoes afterwards, couldn't get the stink out) and I suck at washing dishes...

Worst job ever -

One of my friends use to work in a toffee factory. apparntly "authentic" toffee cannot be smashed by a machine but must be smashed into rustic looking chucnks by 100s of toffee hammer wielding minions.

Apparantly it was so loud in the "toffee hall" that they had to wear ear protectors.

Worst job...hmm, I once worked as a short order cook in a bar while trying to pay my tutition, that was pretty bad.

The job I hated most was working for an auto parts place, that sucked, every jerk expects you to be an expert on his crapola car.

My worst job was as a receptionist. Dealing with crap from callers when they couldn't speak to whoever they wanted to, crap from my cowie who thought she was in charge of me cos she'd been there longer, making coffee, and clearing up meeting rooms after lazy bastards who were incapable of throwing a half eaten sandwich in the bin.

Oh yeah, and boss from hell who was always too busy to do anything.
She once spent over 10 minutes explaining to a maintenance guy why she was too busy to talk to him. All he wanted was a signature, total time required - 2 seconds.

I wish I could send people home for stinking. There are a few people here that I'd send home. Not because they stink - just because it would be humiliating :)

I used to have to climb in a skip and pull out bits of carpet and stuff. when the thing is full of carpet it was not so bad but it was not. There was always lots of broken glass, sharp metal pallet strapping as well as any other shjit that they wanted to throw in there.

Oh, and I had to wrap the hanging baskets in rusty razor wire to stop the pikies stealing them.
