friend of mine went to canada for a few days.
he said people were nice most cars were japanese (ts, ts) there are pictures of the english queen (????) and poeple speak in american accent and the frenc speaking canadian really don't have such a sucky accent as I thought.
he also said canada was dirt cheap compared to greece and that their biggest problem as portrayed at one newspaper was... the big number of suicides and what to do about them...

Canada is part of the commonwealth, hence the queen pics.

I thought you were coming out of the closet.

There is no domestic violence so I would need to hide in the closet in the first place.

What is the secret here?

How does a superficial understanding of Canada help you understand Asher?

RedFred

It is like seeing a library once helping you to understand Moby Dick.

understanding Asher is like looking at a library and knowing the plot to Moby Dick

paiktis22

it's metaphysical

You want to give Asher what kind of physical?

Frozen Frog

So, about that Moby Dick ... what's the relation to the library? Is it a dirty librarian thing?

Canada frowns upon hairy bodies, the suicides are by the Greek immigrants.

And the suicides?

You might be onto something there. Australia has something like the 2nd highest rate of suicides int he world, and we're commonwealth. :nervous:

Asher

The more catholic the nation is, the more people commit suicides. It's a fact.

We have only a slightly higher suicide rate than the US, far lower than Japan, significantly lower than most of Europe, significantly higher than the UK, Italy or Greece.

And if you lived in Saskatchewan/Manitoba/Newfoundland/Northwest Territories/Yukon/Nunuvut you'd kill yourself, too.

Eh. We're sitting right in the middle of the pack, as far as I see.

Not that I really care if somebody wants to off himself. More room for the rest of us.

Surely something should be done to save the hot chicks though. After all they are a precious resource. :nervous:

In Canada men are 4x more likely to off themselves than Women, and gay men are ~8x more likely than straight men to off themselves.

As I said, Catholics play a big role. ;)

Women just pull those sad little cry for help suicide attempts. Men follow through.

If you want something done right, get a man to do it

so, no chance that Funko, paiktis or me would do CG a favor by spontaneously getting rid of our own presence....

Conclusion: the poorer the nation, the lower the suicide rate. :D

Seen a few things recently that says people in poorer societies are generally happier. The opposite of what you'd think.

probably the people doing the survey just didn't bother to ask them

'right, next country on the list: equatorial guinea'
'never heard of it'
'me either, fancy going down the pub?'

And scabby's image would tend to indicate the opposite of asher's catholic claim

there are clearly lots of factors at work - japan is a great example of differing social attitudes to suicide

Much of the stuff that supposedly makes us rich is just a GDP accounting fantasy.

On the other hand, we are bombarded with images of 100000/year-minimum-lifestyles, and the 98 % that don't make that are branded as losers.

I think the current level of discontent and anger will create a pretty sharp backlash over the next decades.
