we had our second scan yesterday and we found that we are having a little boy child!! I knew it was a boy!! Apparently he has all the requisite bits that humans need, we even saw his heart- all four chambers, and he is bang in the middle of the normal measurement ranges. I'm really pleased that he seems all healthy and normal, and that i could tell the way he was lying by his movements. I think he's preparing for the world cup by kicking me every 3 seconds (well lets face it, he's got about as much experience as Walcott!). I went and bought him a special present today. I think Jason really wanted a boy first, and both the grandmothers nearly weed themselves with joy (they would have done this even I gave birth to a two headed fish). We're picking up the cot on Sunday and sorting out the nursery- its all really exciting now we know, he's a real person and not just an 'it' anymore!! yaay!

Oh and in other news, my brothers biopsy came back on the same day, and there's no lymphoma, so everything's great!

Great news Norks, on both counts.

I think you should name him Steve, after the Croc Hunter. Or Greg, either is good. :D

I think you should give him an obscure name that means "peace" in a less commonly spoken language, but "man-whore" in a more well-known language.

Let the naming wars begin.

It looks like I won't be having any sons, but if I did I'd have called him Cormac (unless Mrs Gimp had exercised executive veto and called him something awful like Oliver).

Cheers guys and gals!- at the moment he's called 'the piccolo' (started as pickle) but we really like Blake as a proper name. Its a good old anglo saxon name (meaning fair brow) but with a sci fi edge for those of us over a certain age ;) plus its not too overused and I like William Blake the poet/artist/pervert.

Jason is half Irish so we might yet go for an Irish name, but he'll have Robert as a middle name as that was my dad's name and we always tend to keep a relative's name in our family.

The real battle will be over the surname!

And if he takes after the father, he'll end up "the bassoon", right?
