Seen football songs for the world cup are out in abundance this year. Most of the England ones seem crap. Neil and Christine Hamilton have even bought out a song which makes Rebecca Loos and James Hewitt seem talented!

I laughed at the description the NME gave of Embrace's official England song. They said something like football songs should have some sort of terrace chant sing-along-factor, but Embrace's effort is like the 'Steve Mclaren of indie'

Saw the video for Vindaloo by Fat Les on tv. Forgot how much fun that was!

Sweden's official entry is a second-rate remake of a song which was deathly dull at the nineteen-eighty-something ice hockey crap chapionships, sung by a singer that makes David Grey seem like Karl-Heinz Stockhausen.

No, Swedes have opted wholesale for a song about Zlatan Ibrahimovic's upbrining ("Who's Da Man") by soft-reggae band Elias with guest vocals from a seven-year-old child. Lyric sample: "I love you, ich liebe dich, Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

I like Show Me the Way to The World Cup...

Although I think Tony Christie could have just released it without changing the words, fans'll sing it anyway.

I think the English Version go to number 1 there in 96, Kinnsman said that the Germans were singing it on the way to the semi final vs England. Then there was a German cover

Joel "rathergood" Vietch's band "7 Seconds of Love" have quite a cool song (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/world-cup-2006/world-cup-song/index.html). Although anything can be improved by adding bobbling cat heads.
