That my friend is the sound of inevitability. The loss of all of your freedom. In but four months.

Am I helping at all?

I arbitrarily used the feminine there. It must reflect something from my psyche. Maybe.

my sentiments exactly, crystal. i suggested this from the beginning, but since my in-laws-to-be have sold their house, they can blissfully front the money for the reception.

eighteen months is a long engagement? hell. we've needed this long just to save for the damn thing.

6 months is generally considered on the short side (but OK), a year is average. 18 months is a bit long, but not outrageously long.

I know some who have been engaged for years.. (that I think it unreasonably long).

I've been engaged for just under 18 months now.

We didn't feel like going through the hassle last summer, and you can't really get married in Montreal in the winter without some difficulty...

 Just how big a wedding are you having? Your GF's parents had to sell their house? WOW!

they were selling their house anyway, DS. they had a lot of what eventually became prime real estate. so, they made some decent bucks on selling.
