For a game coming out in Sept, you would expect a little more hype.

This is not good hype.

uh oh.

I'm kind of worried too. Not to mention I'm skeptical on the improvements. Not that KOTOR2 was bad. But it had better graphics than NWN. But I hear they are modelling the outdoors different. So they won't have those silly ramps on the hills which looked stupid.

doh

NWN is such a great game, too. :(

damn that doesn't sound good.

Best i could hope for would be that they release the game with a crap campaign, but the toolset and the engine are awesome and the community can get to work making some great stuff.

worst case is that the engine and toolset are buggy and crap and the community turns its back on it all

by the way does anyone find a paradox in:

[...]a new premium module, called Infinite Dungeons, has been released[...]The module allows you to play at any level, and the dungeons are generated randomly every time you play.

over 20 hours of playtime

So Infinity = 20 hours eh? That should fuck a few calculations up.

The play is infinite, but it's only interesting for 20 hours.

I'm really saddened by this news.

The problem is that there are a finite number of elements that can be placed, and a finite number of locations where you can place them, so the number of distinct dungeons that can be generated is still finite.

Would you like to run those permutations for us and let us know what that number is?

There are 3 variations.

Yep, nice. Do you really even need to ask if that's why the picture was taken?

as above, Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil.

Awesome game, used the 3.5 rules to THE LETTER.

Took buggyness to a new level.

And one of the few games where the devs were sneaking parts of their code and programming engine to the fansites so they could make their own patches.

ATARI refused to pay for all but the first one, which didn't realy fix anything. The later official patches were actually done by the lead dev, on weekends, on his own time.

Did it get decent?

JM

No.

It is possible now to play the whole game without it corrupting half your save files.

Oh.. that is a bit of a let down then. You would hope that if you spent your weekends that the result would be at least decent.

To settle for not embarrasing sucks...

Sounds like it was just too much for one man to go it alone. He might have needed to spend many years of weekends to fix all the problems, so he just focused on the showstoppers.

well i think it's about a month til release

anyone seen or heard any more about nwn2?

screens on the official site look ok if not amazing. tbh all i care about is if the engine and the toolset are good. if so i'll buy.

Same for me

I never played through any of the official campaigns.. although I have heard that the later ones got better

I enjoyed playing it with Fugue.. but to be honest if he isn't interested I probably won't pick up

Screens I've seen so far look like KotOR with D&Dness. After KotOR2 and Lionheart, I really don't trust Obsidian to get anything right at all.

I completely missed Lionheart (don't even know what it was too be honest).
