You judge a curry place by the quality of it's bathroom.

My all time favourite curry house is "Curry Capital" towards the top end of Brick lane (turn right out of shoreditch tube and it's about 10 doors down .

It is truly the best curry house I've been to in London, cheap extremely popular and damn good! It's far enough from the tourist trap end of brick lane to not suffer from lack of quality and excessive prices.

I went there about 3 weeks ago and it's still excellent.

Funny thing is, I was talking to MG about that, I said "didn't Nik used to have a loyalty card?" and he said "Yeah... think so" and we both said "I bet he still has it!"

Altenatively the restaurant that is part of India house (indian high commission) on Aldgate, is also excellent. More authentic than brick lane.....also got a kind of colonial theme to it. Last time I ate there me and my Dad met a full time explorer.

Well, it had just opened up when we moved into brick lane so we were probably one of their first customers...it being brick lane I guess a lot of restaurants rarely see the same face twice, but I kept going in there whenever people came to visit / birthdays etc. and (getting drunk) and telling them how awesome the food was.

I once went in there after a year's absense and they still recognised me, and yes, I still had the card!
