View Full Version : Is "Lost" just a pile of old shit?

The plot advances about 5 minutes in every hour-long slot, and I really couldn't give a flying fuck about their past stories any more.

03-05-2006, 20:57:45
Yes. You have summed it up. I tried to warn you bastards in the other Lost thread, but no one listened to me.

04-05-2006, 03:14:46
Lost probably is a pile of old shit, but it's a very watchable one. Who cares if it makes no sense.

04-05-2006, 07:37:07
it does get on your nerves at times, but still, I'm watching e20 tonight.

Rumour has it they're thinking of making 5 seasons out of it, although I can really not see how you could possibly spread this concept over more than a 120 episodes

04-05-2006, 10:07:08
I'm fast coming to that conclusion after watching the first three season 2's on the bounce the other night...

I ended up getting really exasperated over the excessive amount of adverts and repeating storylines!

IIRC the first 15 minutes of ep3 is a rehashing of stuff that had happened in the last couple of eps and from last season!

Basically only about half of the show was actually new material, which considering the amount of adverts as well means I'd be surprised if there was even 20 minutes of new material in the hour slot! Wankers!

Do they think the audience have zero attention spans and suffer from Alzheimer's!!?:clueless:

04-05-2006, 10:11:02
PS I'm obviously pissed off as I darkstarred Laz's succinct comment!:D

04-05-2006, 10:15:37
and still his comment was not only more economical, but also more impactfull and interesting than yours

04-05-2006, 10:48:08
Absolutely - hence my own comment on my ineffectual and rambling rant...

04-05-2006, 11:22:26
I know you know, but why should it prevent me from piling it on :D

04-05-2006, 12:13:06
Indeed, it certainly needs to be said!

04-05-2006, 21:16:16
holy fucking shit, episode 20 just totally blew away Laz and Moebius comments

He said he Darkstarred it. What, are you trying to get a PH award now? ;)

Ooooh! Ooooh! Let me guess!

Something actually happens, right?

05-05-2006, 16:55:11

Best of all you'll get to see it repeated in the next three episodes and randomly thereafter!

08-05-2006, 11:34:01
Just like the daytime soaps...

08-05-2006, 12:12:24
Lost is the new Neighbours

08-05-2006, 15:21:16
Typical Lost episode. 58 minutes of nothing happening. 2 minutes of Holy Shit excitement to draw you back in for the next episode which will be more of the same.

10-05-2006, 04:41:03
You know you love it.

Last nights Channel E4 (episode 4 I think) was a pile of gash. That said the one before (e3) was very good. It's defintely a cyclic thing!

Actually I did notice something wiered! You know the video that they see in the bunker? Well in that at the end it has a logo for a company called the Honza organisation (or something like that). Did anyone notice that the add in the breaks before Lost started was for the Honza organisation? And it was a really vague add for nothing in particular, but with a UK phone number.

It was late, I was tired, but I'm pretty sure they're linked.

10-05-2006, 09:28:18
I don't give a fuck, we're still in season one and I still am unavailable for anything else on Monday night when Lost is on!

I'm not sure how we do number the episodes, we get over 2 hours every monday, so I suspect they air two in a row, but last one was labeled on the schedule as ep9...
It was the one with the Beechcraft and Boone events, after which we got treated (?) with a 1hr SUMMARY EPISODE (!!!) with a quick recap of all the major scenes from the start till current time!
Was that in the original too???

got the answer from the other thread

Question: Considering I have only seen up to ep 3 series 2, am I supposed to know how Loche ended up in a wheel chair yet??

Thank you

10-05-2006, 11:16:51
I can't remember if we knew that or not. Hmm. Was it to do with complications after he donated his father a kidney?

Nills Lagerbaak
10-05-2006, 11:18:02
Well, I am guessing something like that, or perhaps his father's henchmen cripple him for always hanging round his house. go on just tell me!

10-05-2006, 11:22:10
I saw that epsode the last week, and the consequences of the donation are not shown.

He runs out of hospital and drives to the father's home to complain, and we see he can drive and walk, while blood drips from the wound on his back thru the shirt.

It must be later, that is in the last 4 ep of Season 1, or in season 2

Nills Lagerbaak
10-05-2006, 11:23:20
Cool, can probably assume I'm not supposed to know what happened yet!

10-05-2006, 11:25:22
I don't know then, I haven't even seen this weeks episode yet.

10-05-2006, 11:47:05
we don't know yet how Locke got crippled, even after the very last episode

10-05-2006, 12:17:39
Hanso Organization. Founded by Alvar Hanso, who you actually get a glimpse of in a window during one of the earlier episodes. I think it's the first time they watch the film.

Nills Lagerbaak
10-05-2006, 12:26:38
But there was also that american looking advert for Hanso organisation in the advert break, but with a british phone number....very wierd.

It started with some wierd leonardo divinci shit then goes...since the dawn of time man kind has been asking questions.... visit hanso corporation or something..... odd odd odd.

10-05-2006, 13:08:16
Yeah, you call the phone number and it gives you a password for a secret part of the website http://thehansofoundation.org

10-05-2006, 13:27:18
I was wondering... how many times the numbers have been actually played in lottos and lotteries around the world...

Oh, I think I can live without that.

10-05-2006, 14:03:29
Yes, you can. Because it's more of the same Lost shit. Excellent premise, but no pay off.

Episode 3 was gash.

"Oh look. They've captured me, clubbed me unconscious, dragged me off in a net and thrown me into a pit. However they've inexplicable failed to notice that I've got a large semi-automatic handgun stuffed in my pants."

"Oh look. We've been spending weeks trying to find a way into the hatch, and never once noticed the front door to the place."

I lost patience after the second episode- it just seems to be yet another sub-Lynchian quirkfest without a direction.

11-05-2006, 00:21:00
When did Lynchian quirkfests ever have plots?

And did that stop Twin Peaks being the best series ever? No.

11-05-2006, 09:50:51
well, THAT series I only followed sporadically after the first 2 or 3 episodes, and completely refused to go further when I realised there was a dwarf speaking backwards...

11-05-2006, 09:54:07
dwarfs speaking backwards are cool - FACT!

18-05-2006, 07:56:44
I can do that, sejsej

Well, season two certainly went out with a bang. :hmm:

26-05-2006, 11:03:03
Since moving and not having the internet at home I'm so out of touch with Lost, but rest assured I'm all Broadbanded up now, and have the last 4 episodes downloading as I type.

It's going to be a good night. (Apologies in advance to my housemate).

26-05-2006, 11:09:40
He can come to Club V if he's bored.

26-05-2006, 11:13:24
Mr Fogg & Desdemona??? I think he'd probably prefer to actually watch a Lost marathon. As would any right minded person.

26-05-2006, 11:20:05
Yeah, but I'm most of a season behind that. I was just going to go and drink in the bar. :D

Is it possible to get a free/ demo version of WOW for the multiplayer shizzle?

26-05-2006, 11:25:55
You can get free time limited trials but WoW is only multiplayer.

26-05-2006, 11:27:29
Sweet! I love warcraft, so fuly expect to be enjoying this!!!

26-05-2006, 11:27:41
Don't do it fool. You live in Bristol for fucks sake, surely you see enough bearded wizard types in real life to not require a virtual fix too.

26-05-2006, 11:33:21
World of Warcraft is a role playing game, it's not like normal warcraft.

If you want to play normal warcraft online I have Warcraft 3 which isn't free but it is very cheap:

Nills Lagerbaak
26-05-2006, 11:35:25
I had warcraft three before I gave it back to you :(

I suppose there are a lot of druids/wizzards here, but they spend most of their time in parks drinking cider. I recokon you'd so much as roll a D20 and they'd fall over dead.

26-05-2006, 12:50:43
Ah ok, didn't realise I leant you it.

Well get a copy, 8 and we can have some online fun.

26-05-2006, 13:10:00

Dirty beggar.trust me, when ytou see how much fun we can have, you'll be begging to join in.

Funko - I still have an installation of WArcraft 3 on my PC. I wonder if the multiplayer will work without the CD? Alternativelty I shall set the e-mule to work...

26-05-2006, 13:36:59
You need a new CD key to play online. I've already registered my number online.

26-05-2006, 13:37:24
If you try and log in on my key and I did too it'd probably ban us both! It's only 8 anyway.

Nills Lagerbaak
26-05-2006, 13:42:13
True. I may have to get me one then. Actually speaking of keys - see my thread I'm about to create in the geek forum.

26-05-2006, 13:48:00
Let me know. Be good to get revenge for those invisible wizard attacks in 1995.

Ha ha classic. If only you had been able to see everything like that!

All it required was a thin forest to be able to pull off the most devestating wizardry. I liked the way I didn't have to be able to see you forces to be able to launch a cloud of death and decay.

It mad a very satisfying melting/bubbling sound too.

26-05-2006, 14:03:57
Maybe we should talk about this in the games forum. :D

Do you think you'll be able to pick up a copy for play this long weekend? (don't forget to uninstall first so you can put the new key in)

26-05-2006, 14:07:46

Yearrrrrrrgh .

27-05-2006, 16:09:59
After a 4 episode marathon last night I'm now fully up to date with Lost, and all I can say is what the fuck? You people who demanded answers finally got what you wanted, and did it help solve anything? Did it fuck. Left even more questions unanswered.

And while the last 4 episodes of series 2 were all awesome, and they really were, I have a horrible feeling series 3 is going to suck balls. It's all getting much too big.
