It was a mates birthday so we went on an all day drinking session. We ended up in some Japanese karaoke bar singing Country Roads and it reminded me of Venom

So... you're not actually 30 years old, and the BMW is really your father's?

I like the power ballads.

'I believe i can fly' is my fave. I sang that and 'Beautiful' in karaoke in NY.

I'm going to a karaoke party for someone's birthday in a couple of weeks. I want to sing 'Born to Run' by the boss, so i'm working on it now. There's a couple of of tough bits.

If i had the voice i would do 'Total eclipse of the heart', but sadly i don't

I hate karaoke, but I agree with Mr_G that Andre Hazes is the way to go... Although I prefer De Vlieger, Een Beetje Verliefd or Een Vriend. Brilliant stuff to drunkenly sing along to.

I wish folk who can not sing (but seem to think they can) would lay off the karaoke. If the pub I had intended to go to has the bad taste to hold a karaoke night, I move on to the next pub, that's out of earshot.

Karaoke is only fun if the people who are doing it cannot sing.

well said bas

it should be open to people of all abilities, what matters is that they want to enjoy themselves and have fun singing something they like. some of the best karaoke i have ever seen has been performed by some of the worst singers i have ever seen, because they are doing something they love and that counts for a lot more than the kind of soulless professional singing you see on pop idol etc.

Why can't they love doing it in a soundproof booth somewhere and not inflict it on everyone else ?

King_Ghidra

pubs are cheaper than soundprooof booths i guess

you're a miserable bastard aren't you

tbh i'll take some public participation karaoke over some wanky up their arse band any day

Take up smoking. Cigars. And inhale.

I did Bohemian Rhapsody at a departmental Christmas party a few years back, it turned out to be so much fun I decided to do Down Under by Men At Work a year or two later and totally butchered it.

I agree

I can't sing, and when I get incredibly drunk I get worse

there was one time that I picked "We are the World", but didn't know anything but that one line

but I got up all my freinds on stage, and sang that line (and mumbled the other) and held up lighters and swayed..

This is always the temptation with karaoke. You get some momentum and then you try and take on something too big.

^ Are you still referring to music there?

American Pie seems like a great choice but it goes on for, what seems like, hours; especially if you sing as bad as me!
