I must say, hats off to anyone who can so deftly shift from an artistic discussion of World War two poetry to the logistical nightmare of having a woman give you fellatio whilst you have another woman's name adorning your penis.

Bravo that man!

Well, I have no idea where this link is. Can someone provide a normal link which is clearly labeled and visable?

I've always liked "Dulce et Decorum Est"

And I believe the source of the phrase is the great classical lyric poet Horace

 at oerdin and shitkiss

and thanks for the answer KH, you are spot on. Horace also gave us the much quoted 'carpe diem' of dead poets fame, so his longevity is pretty good for a guy who wrote 2000 years ago.

An english translation of the Ode featuring Dulce et decorum est:

ANGUSTAM AMICE.

To suffer hardness with good cheer,
In sternest school of warfare bred,
Our youth should learn; let steed and spear
Make him one day the Parthian's dread;
Cold skies, keen perils, brace his life.
Methinks I see from rampined town
Some battling tyrant's matron wife,
Some maiden, look in terror down,--
"Ah, my dear lord, untrain'd in war!
O tempt not the infuriate mood
Of that fell lion! see! from far
He plunges through a tide of blood!"
What joy, for fatherland to die!
Death's darts e'en flying feet o'ertake,
Nor spare a recreant chivalry,
A back that cowers, or loins that quake.
True Virtue never knows defeat:
HER robes she keeps unsullied still,
Nor takes, nor quits, HER curule seat
To please a people's veering will.
True Virtue opens heaven to worth:
She makes the way she does not find:
The vulgar crowd, the humid earth,
Her soaring pinion leaves behind.
Seal'd lips have blessings sure to come:
Who drags Eleusis' rite to day,
That man shall never share my home,
Or join my voyage: roofs give way
And boats are wreck'd: true men and thieves
Neglected Justice oft confounds:
Though Vengeance halt, she seldom leaves
The wretch whose flying steps she hounds.

Horace also gave us the much quoted 'carpe diem'

I did not know that. For some reason I thought it was Ovid who did that one.

Those two with Virgil are the only 3 Latin poets I know, so I ascribe everything to one of the three

Dyl Ulenspiegel

I suggest adding Catullus.

i have to say i think it sucks as a piece of software, but as everyone in the universe uses it, it serves its purpose

As with a lot of very popular sites eg. e-bay, Craig's list it's getting the concept out there first and getting a critical mass of users that makes it great, not the brilliant design.

I prefer Livejournal to be honest. Slightly less people use it, but it has less of a propensity to look like the doodlings of a 12 year old.

It has a userinfo page, and links to your friends blogs also typed in a friends format. You can also do friends only posts which is nice.

Tbh, I like the idea of keeping a blog of some description, but I am lazy when it comes to updating them...
