View Full Version : Windows Media Player...

Whenever I try and watch stuff like video content from the BBC website using Windows Media Player the picture displays in about 8 colours, all really bright and distorted. Watching the olympic snowboarding earlier was like watching it on a heat detection camera.

How can I solve this please?

Turn the "heat camera" effect setting off.

I'm not sure if you're joking. :(

Have you checked you're not watching Predator?

Or Predator 2?

Have you tried restarting your machine?

If nothing else was concluded in this thread (and it wasn't) its that no-one knows the answer to your predicament.

Download vlc, its great, plays anything

I have seen videos suffering the same sort of shit Debs was on about, and it was a problem with the file...not a setting on WMP/

No, it's not just one file or stream, it's everything I try and watch.

Wierd, very wierd. Sorry I can't help you :) Real Player is quite good.

RealPlayer is evil and filled with evil evil spyware.

And has a really annoying jingle thing when you launch it.

Try http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/real_alternative.cfm

debaser i expect it will be some kind of codec problem then.

Try updating your codecs. I got a great codec pack from one of the porn torrent sites i frequent. You can always rely on these people to have the shit under control to properly enjoy their habit.

This is a great 'All-in-one' Codec pack:

Don't download the latest DivX codec, it's full of Spyware.

Media Player Classic is by far the best player out there at the moment. It can play anything you throw at it.

Cheers, more players to.. err.. play with :D

That real alternative is weird though. I thought it would be a separate thing, but it seems to have integrated itself with Media Player Classic allowing it to play the rm stuff it couldn't initially ?!?

Real Alternative (and Quicktime Alternative) is just a codec pack. It also comes with MPC, but if you have the current version of that already it doesn't install it. Once the codecs are installed, the media player can use it.
