I regularly dream about my teeth shattering and/or falling out.

Only last week I dreamt my canine's were hanging from my mouth only attached by sinews. Luckily I managed to force them back in before I woke up.

I use to have similar dreams, turned out I was grinding my teeth and would wake up with headaches

I got a mouth gaurd

stopped grinding after I switched jobs

did that just a frew months before my father died

I go every six months

you sickos

but then, my dad is a dentist

Tizzy
09-02-2006, 15:23:34
The lastfew times I went (ok, to an orthodontist not a dentist), they hurt me. A lot.
Therefore I'm now conditioned against going back.

JM^3
09-02-2006, 15:42:21
I use to go every 6 months or a year

but then I didn't go one year because of a 5 month wait time (it was for a new dentist also)

and then I forgot to sign up for dental insurance for 2 years...

so I will be able to sign up for dental insurance again in the summer, I think

maybe I should just go?

Maybe if you went regularly then they wouldn't have to hurt you so much.

This time last year i was just having some dental work wrapped up that was the result of not having been to the dentist for 10+ years.

The damage:

14+ fillings of various sizes
4 teeth pulled
c. 1600 spent

However, financial damage notwithstanding, it was a pretty painless and pleasant experience. And it's nice to smile freely.

Maybe I'll go sometime soon.

It's only 6 years or so since I've been. When I last went then it was 5 or so years since I'd been and everything was fine.

Great, just great, a thread filled with Brits talking about the dentist.

mr_G
09-02-2006, 16:37:46
my first dentist was an old sadistic man.
dr. Rozenstraten , my brother and sister where very afraid of the man, he could say in an awful way: mouth OPEN......farrrrther OOOOH PEN.

then I got a new one.... dr. de Bakker who was a cool man who talked about everything like "the hookers in Instanbul" during a sitting, jesjes made you relax a bit.

Then the good man died like 14 years ago.

Just lost one molar in 14 years and the new dr. is going the rebuilt the rest of my teeth. woooohooooooo, is gonna cost me a bit, dunno how much but no 1400 pounds that's for sure

Not only the ancients. My grandmother would turn yellow if someone in the family had a dream about falling teeth.

Dreaming of shit OTOH means MONEY!

It is...

In your teens you go because your parents make you or something. Or they make appointments at least.

Then you move away from home, don't get a new dentist because you don't think of it etc.

Venom
10-02-2006, 14:23:19
Then in your 30s all your teeth fall out and you go again.

Me neither. The only work I've ever needed done (so far) was to have teeth removed cos there wasn't enough space in my mouth for them, and then braces to straighten up the remaining ones.

Japher

ok yesterday my second date wizzz the dentist.

she is great, two old fillings in my molars made them break in half.
I was very worried cause i thought they need to be replaced by "crown" (you know a very expensive fake molar).
She laughed and said: no worries mrG, i'm gonna "harry Potter" a new molar there, gimme 30 minutes.

She cleaned the tooth, put my mouth full with cotton balls (she probably got them wizzzz valentine's day) and she started to do her trick with same awesome looking stuff.
they looked like stuff from men in black, it was kewl.

she layered some enamel on the remaining parts of the molar and started to do some awesome sculpturing.
taaadaaaaaaaaaaa mrG has got one new molar, next week the other one.
woooohooooooooot

the dentist rocks |,,|/

was that a paste, which gets hard if then heated or properly irradiated?

I had that same "sculpturing" when I had a point of a premolar chipped off (a stone in a stuffed duck filling...).
After that the dentist asked me to bite a piece of soft paper to check if the bite print was correct.

mr_G
17-02-2006, 09:59:34
jep one layer takes 40 seconds to "hard out" and jesjes the soft paper thingy did that like 20 times.

I think there is some awesome stuff going on the the dentist-bizzzz.

when i think about the work of a dentist i think...... you money maker you......now i think there is some job joy in dentisting.
