My laptop specs say:

Modem
v90 56k modem

Wireless
802.11bg Wireless LAN

Is this enough to connect wirelessly to the internet? If so how do I do it? It keeps saying something about my wireless thing not being on, and I don't know what to change...

You need a wireless modem and router....do you have one? You might have to configure the adaptor on your wireless card (there'll be a wizzard to help with this)

Yeah, sorry, should have said...

There's already a wireless modem and router sending "the internet" to many other computers in my house, I just wondered if my new set-up was sufficiant to grasp some of that raw interweb power.

Should be! Do you have a SID set-up (if you don't and your laptop isn't aware of it, it won't even "see" a network)

Does your computer "see" the network at all? In which case you should at least be able to go to the router config page and do a line test (which should then give you internet access)

If I hit the "Check for available networks" button it doesn't find anything, and asks me to check my wireless abilities are turned on, I just don't know how to do that...

Wierd...

Try troubleshooting your devices, there should be a wireless card in there somewhere.

Ok, cheers, I'll try that later...

Yay, it's now working.

Nobody mentioned that there was a little Wireless On/Off button...

Ha ha ha, damn PCs are so overly complaex they make you forget the obvious.

Still, I kindof suspected there might have been an on/off switch, which would have shown up in the hardware test wizzard!
