Mmmm.

Perhaps even nicer than the mighty Cherry Coke! (and totally different, who'd have thought it!)

Er, is there a "safe" level of consumption or am I guaranteed to die cos I've drunk one can of diet stuff? :nervous:

King_Ghidra
02-02-2006, 11:25:50

The crisp mountain air means I will be able to hear John Thompson's voice much more clearly from my portable TV.

He didn't go into much detail. He works as a doctor in gastroentrelogical(is that even a word) research at a local university hospital. Just had a look on Google and there are loads of sites listing the possible side effects. I sometimes get headaches if I drink too much of the crap.

King_Ghidra

getting headaches from drinking too much of something hardly sounds like an unexpected side-effect

you could probably get a headache from drinking three pints of water

my main objection to diet drinks is the disgusting after-taste of the sweetner

Gary
02-02-2006, 11:42:20
If you like soft drinks, fruit squashes, or any of that sort of stuff, it's a bugger to avoid.
Usually easier to look out for the organic label.

Funny, I've found the aftertaste of normal Coke unpleasant - well, the "coated teeth" feeling at least.

The diet Fanta taste is good though.

I suppose we should just drink water and eat fruit really.

Long term exposure has been shown to cause brain tumours in several animal studies.

I should of defined 'too much' in my experience. Usually if I have two cups of tea with Candarel/Sweetner in, or two cans of Pepsi Max/Diet Coke in the day.

I know headaches can be caused by de-hydration which caffiene will cause but I don't get the same headaches if I had a couple of cups of tea with no sugar.

did they eventually die of exposure?

Funko

I think they eventually died of brain tumours...

Rodgers
02-02-2006, 12:21:08
Oh. I thought they might have been the smaller more manageable sized brain tumours.

Funko
02-02-2006, 12:23:41
So your immediate reaction to being told that something in your drink might cause brain tumours is "what kind? bad brain tumours or good ones?"

Yeah - I could get one of those cool ones that shut off your sense of smell for 10 years only for it to return in the future after you bang your head.
