Help! I think I'm on my way to becoming all adult-ish and responsible!! I had a part time job, and got to sleep all day, work a few hours, come home, eat a lot, see my bf, sleep, repeat. But now I've gone and gotten myself a full time job. With full time hours! And monthly pay and responsibility and stuff like that. And I have my own office, and I have to dress smart and AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

I know, but I had you all fooled for a year!

I quit school a year early, went to college, got a few qualifications, got a 'summer job' couldn't be arsed to go back to college, so I quit. A few months down the line I get the chance to get a better job, better hours and better pay, I take it.

So shoot me. Already had the lectures about not going on to uni or whatever, I don't need them again, thanks. I'm doing just fine

Oerdin
25-01-2006, 07:59:49
Seriously that job which looks so good when you're in your teens and living with your parents doesn't look so good when you hit 20 and it down right sucks when you're pushing 30. Even the decently paying dumb ass jobs require some sort of degree now days and you can forget getting them without a degree.

College is easy and fun. Just go and get it over with or your life is likely to be shit.

mr_G

best years of your life Bells.
and you are flushing them down the drain, hey Bells it is your life so you may make your own mistakes.

Gary

IIWY I'd try looking at it as a year or two off. I went to Uni in my late twenties.

Best of luck with your decisions.

Kitsuki
25-01-2006, 09:54:08
University = best three years of my life and even six months on from graduation its clear that a) the above is the case and b) even with my dosser's degree I'll earn heaps more than somebody who didnt go to uni...

Tizzy
25-01-2006, 10:12:49
I didn't go to uni and I don't think it's held me back so far.
I don't earn loads of money just now but it'll be better when I get a real job for a real company.

Kitsuki
25-01-2006, 11:09:48

Nills Lagerbaak
25-01-2006, 15:43:43
Definitely. I wouldn't have missed uni for anything. I even carried on afterwards, and am not ruling out returning!

Some of the people who do the crappy jobs in this company who have been here for 7 years, with no future prospects thought that their job looked wicked when they were at colledge. Now they have got to the point where they are abusively defensive about not having gone to Uni. probably cos they realise the mistake they made....

Funko
25-01-2006, 15:44:53

I think it's great. Education only takes you so far. In fact, in my experience your education doesn't mean anything more than a foot in the door. Everyone wants experience.

So, your office: with a door and everything? Pretty nice for a first full time job :)

I can't be assed with uni, too bloody expensive and I'm barely getting through college. It's bollocks really, I have to do 4 subjects to stay in, and I only want to do one. I'm going to be quitting all the courses i'm doing atm next year and doing computing degrees, staying on with CISCO CCNA and getting a job. But first I need money to insure my car, no chance of getting a bus to work, SIX FUCKING POUNDS. Allie, you getting driving lessons yet?
