I've packed, lost my sunglasses, paniced, found sunglasses, lost visa reference number (apparently you don't actually need it as they scan your passport and that tells them if you have one), lost my sunglasses again, found 20 quid in a jacket pocket, found the sunglasses again and now I'm ready to go to the airport.

Oz here I come.

Are you back in Reading on Friday?

Funko
19-12-2005, 10:26:29
have you met Beta1 before? It'd be just like you to bump into him. Like in Prague where you randomly met 2 people you knew in a day.

I think I have! It would indeed be funny / just like me!

I will be in Reading on Friday. Christmas meal, but with possibility of sneaking out after hours for some drinkies... any plans?

Not sure. After hours drinks sounds good. Maybe Global Cafe or something?

Funko

It's Fools Gold, won't get in unless you go early. Anyway I'm going there on christmas eve.

Nills Lagerbaak
19-12-2005, 10:42:44
aha, let's play it by ear then...see what time everyone else goes to sleep and I can get out!

Up the juntion is also good (with their new license)...you could then stay round your parents!

Funko
19-12-2005, 10:43:22
Why would I want to stay at my parents? Turtle is open 'till 4.

Nills Lagerbaak
19-12-2005, 10:44:57
Yak! I forgot about that. Turtle it is then :) I've got to fly the next day too......rock and/or roll!

You're going to the After Dark on Christmas Eve? And people think I'm the loser for getting drunk on my couch by myself.

It's a christmas tradition, loads of people who live out of town and are back to stay with their parents for Christmas go.

I rarely manage to stay past midnight because of early afternoon christmas drinks...

Is that meant for me in which case thanks! I intend to not know much about the flight due to the cocktail of valium and champagne I intend to consume (don't like flying I'm afraid, it;s gonna be the wierdest christmas day I ever spent)

Oh and yes, drinking at the AD is a deeply sad pursiut!

Actually, meant for Richard (due to not reading all the posts here) but equally applicable to you. Yes, that is the only way to handle that shitty trip.

I found London to Christchurch (NZ) not too bad and that was about 28 hours, 2*12 hour flights with 2 hour layover in LAX and an internal flight after arriving at Auckland.

Much easier than I was expecting anyway.

It's a hardcore journey, whichever way you slice it. Especially when most of it is spent feeling either panic un deep unease!

Got a 4 hour stop in Kuala Lumpur (never been, so there's another country ticked off!)

Funko
19-12-2005, 15:03:24
Forgot you were scared of flying, you pussy.

Venom
19-12-2005, 15:11:58
It's not the flying that gets you. It's the crashing.

4 hour stop in the middle - that is a cruel and unusual punishment

Time before we had 12 hours in singapore! At least with that one they organised a 5 hour trip round the place, visiting diamond shops. A pontless but interesting exercise. I think with this one, we won't even be abel to leave the airport.

JM^3
19-12-2005, 15:24:31
yeah

you will be able to leave the plane, almost fall asleep, and then enter the plane

on the bonus side, if you want something to eat you will have time to get it

I'm in Melbourne at the moment but the guys I'm staying with have booked a load of places to stay down the great ocean road. We are off later this morning and won't be back for a few days, then I'm off to perth (well some tiny place 4 hours south of it).

Went to the Crown Casino complex last night. Very cool.

Nills Lagerbaak
20-12-2005, 09:12:23
