Fans wanting to get the best out of the King Kong video game should avoid the version for Microsoft's new Xbox 360, the game's maker Ubisoft has suggested.

Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot admitted that the 360 game is too dark on standard TVs, making it hard to play.

"I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't see it when we were developing the game," he told the BBC News website.

The game of the Hollywood blockbuster has received generally positive reviews and sold well in the UK.

I can't believe they never, at any point, tested it on a normal TV! IDIOTS! :bash:

It's a far cry from a good company?

Eh. Turn up the contrast, no?

Did you believe Firaxis never tested Civ IV on a computer with an ATI card?

17-12-2005, 12:32:23
there is talk of this

but I have an ATI card, and no problem

"Talk" is an understatement.

And I think they fixed the problem eventually in the patch.

I had the game opening day

as I said, no problems

although to be sure it was all over the forums

Games where the developers won't turn on the lights are supposed to be challenging, but just end up being frustrating. No (smart) Space Marine isn't going to take his night vision or even a candle with him before going through lots of dark corridors on a derelict spaceship.

As a matter of fact, many in the beta had ATI cards. The problem cropped up in how they packed up files for the release.

And :)? Excuse me, but testing the beta is not an excuse to not test the final build - that simply screams "unprofessional"!

19-12-2005, 11:26:18
true, still i've seen it happen myself in my professional capacity :D

it's a bad assumption that the packaged product will be the same as the last one in test, but easy enough to make, especially when deadlines attack

Also seen it happen.

Hmmm, weren't Rockstar also slated for how dark and depressing the graphics on the PS2 version of San Andreas ended up? The PC graphics are much better.

Seen it? I've done it.

Oh, I did something worse - I introduced a new feature to the final release, without testing it. Luckily it was a project for uni :D.

do you mean "feature" as in feature or "feature" as in Firaxis?

19-12-2005, 15:04:24
At the final presentation it turned out to be both.

I sincerely HOPE you left it undocumented, at least
