The US National association of realtors boasts about 1.2 million realtors (up by 0.4 million over the last few years) it represents. And there's an estimate they make about 60 billion $ in commissions per year.

That's 1 realtor for 250 people.

Or almost 1 out of 100 jobs is a realtor job.

The average US household (about 100 million?) pays 600 $ in realtor commissions per year.

By US standards, a country like Austria should have about 30000-35000 realtors. The actual number is more like something around 8000.

Two questions:

1.
"Our membership is composed of residential and commercial REALTORS®, who are brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and others engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry."

Do they count say secretaries or janitors in that insane number?

2. Will balding accountants go the way of the Dodo and be replaced by balding realtors?
