Drekkus

Just for Lurker voting Civ4 you have to choose to review CoD2.

fp
31-10-2005, 20:33:29
Venom would clearly prefer it if Civ 4 lost, therefore it will win by a landslide. Thus has it always been, thus it always shall be.

James's Mum
31-10-2005, 20:36:50
I will buy James Civ4 for his release day. Please review that.

HelloKitty
31-10-2005, 20:58:46
Want me to do Civ4 and you can do call of duty? It will be the lame-o reviewer laugh a thon.

Venom
31-10-2005, 21:06:30
I have to listen to the people, but if someone stepped up and took that bullet for me, it would be appreciated. I'm not saying that anyone should, I'm just saying.

HelloKitty

If we could get lurker to do a review of some game we could have a ToD loser review trifecta!

Venom
31-10-2005, 21:48:12
The internet would be destroyed in that scenario.

Greg W
01-11-2005, 01:08:02
Woo hoo, go CIV IV.

HK, I think that Venom really should review it. I think he needs to do it for himself. Well, maybe for us to laugh at him as well. :)

Venom
01-11-2005, 01:58:08
No. The ToD will stick together! Always.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 03:18:40
Unless there is something to be gained backstabbing Lurker that is.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 05:00:25
Although, I haven't seen a multiplayer review.

Does lurker have the game?

It may be fun to write a multiplayer TOD review.

I would suggest the three of us as a team on a huge map, rocky lakes, low sea (in other words almost no water with shitloads of hills for production), Diety level (nasty), 18 total civs (15 enemies on a team against us, sharing all research etc), raging barbs, epic speed, and constant war turned on.

That would be an entertaining and very short game. Wonder if we would all survive the first few barbarian uprisings since on monarch with no raging barbs a barb unit appears almost every damn round...

Venom
01-11-2005, 05:37:40
I would say, No. We wouldn't survive.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 08:41:36
You have to win to review a game?

Civ IV (obviously)

i changed my mind and voted civ iv, the world domination game concept can only bring out the best in venom

MattHiggs
01-11-2005, 10:51:43
I think the Civ 4 review would make great reading. Call of Duty 2 wouldn't.

Funko
01-11-2005, 10:52:04
Maybe Venom is double bluffing and really wants to review Civ IV?

Shining1
01-11-2005, 13:13:35
It just has to be Civ4. I don't care what he wants.

Funko
01-11-2005, 13:15:40
I think Matt summed it up. Civ IV review - hillarious.

Call of Duty... well I might not even bother reading it.

Obviously Civ IV

Lurker the Second
01-11-2005, 15:57:31
I would kick their sorry asses, but what would be the benefit of reading a review by two losing whiners about how hard the game is and then me talking about how easy it is?

Funko
01-11-2005, 16:06:35
Brilliant Lurker, especially as you were supposed to be on their team.

King_Ghidra
01-11-2005, 16:08:17

in light of this brilliant bit of powermongering, civ iv is obviously the right choice

And that's why we would have lost, because it would have been 15 on 2 with 1 retarded Lurker flailing about the map.

Lurker the Second
01-11-2005, 16:54:15
If there is any connection between civ 4 and civ 2, 3 people should not lose under any conditions against the ai.

i'd rather crush my friends under my heel than help them build a beautiful world

Think about how great the review would be.

Or you can just do the regular dull single player wank a thon.

So just a normal Friday night for Venom, then.

Venom
01-11-2005, 20:37:58
Well, considering it looks like I'm going to be reviewing it I'll need to test of the MP with somebody.

You need to buy Civ4. No more ICS. Attacking and defending takes planning now. On higher settings you really cannot ignore any type of unit or the computer will roll over you. No more "I have 20 pikemen in this city, no one can take it". The computer would say, I have 2 crossbowmen, and 2 catapults, and 2 swordsmen, now I am razing your city.

And monarch up you have to build the fuck out of your air force in the late game. Air power plays a major role, without fighters your territory is ruined, without bombers good luck taking any cities.

There are few things in the game more entertaining than building 20 bombers and being next to a civ that is just about to reach the ability to build airports.

Being able to strip ALL improvements around one of thier cities in one round because they don't have enough/any fighters and knock out most of a civs strat resources at the same time is too wonderful.

How did I learn to build an airforce? Well, the computer decided to attack, that same round they destroyed all my metal resources, all my oil, and my one uranium link. IT takes a bit longer to mount a counter when the computer sends you back to mounter archers until you get your workers involved.

I never used ICS in civ 2. I tried it once to experiment, but it couldn't have been more tedious. On a medium world, playing deity, I like to build maybe a dozen cities, get the good happiness wonders and democracy, celebrate to as large a pop as possible, and then just start picking off civs 1 by 1. Hopefully whoever has pissed me off the most during the game will be the nearest civ.

But this sounds almost like a different game. Can't I just kill Venom?

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 21:36:11
It is much different than civ 2. A dozen cities would take until communism not to cripple you. Also you don't get population from "I love the X" anymore.

Venom
01-11-2005, 21:42:08
I'm not a good Civ player, so yes. You could kill me.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 22:17:12
I haven't been a good MP civ player since the last time I played MP, when SMAC was new.

Do you have the game venom?

Venom
01-11-2005, 22:19:27
Nope. The poll results aren't official yet. I'm still waiting for the huge Call of Duty crowd to come in and vote.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 22:23:34
I voted for CoD just to fuck with the numbers :)

I'm going to go run through a few turns on the settings I mentioned to see how long before the computer comes for my babies!

Venom
01-11-2005, 22:30:20
Maybe I'll declare this a golf poll and make the lowest score the winner.

HelloKitty
01-11-2005, 22:41:38
HA! The game ran for 5 minutes. Because of the epic setting I had time to build a total of 3 warriors and get halfway to city size 3. I started with 1 settler and a scout, the scout was killed while on a forested hill by a wolf.

When the second warr was built the waves of barbarians (from raging barbs) started coming in.

When you have 2 warrs and you see 4 archers and 5 warrs on screen at one time coming at you, you know you are going to lose. All the other civs had 3 cities. Although I won the first wave and my warrior earned 10 exp before the archers started pouring in.

I am sure there are people on Poly who will already claim they can beat Civ4 on those settigns and never lose a single city. :)

Venom

Poly grants you special Civ skills.

Greg W

To paraphrase Homer: The foot is coming down Venom. No Venom, that's it, the foot has spoken! CIV IV stays!

If you also happen to do a CoD2 review in addition to CIV IV, then all the better. :p
