"We don't have to protect the environment, the Second Coming is at hand." - James Watt (Secretary of the Interior) Responsible for National Policy regarding the Environment

"I don't know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God." - George Bush

"When science and the Bible differ, science has obviously misinterpreted its data."

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

"Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."

"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed'' Anne Coulter - Fox News

The best/funniest one is:

How very Funko of you. Quick, sweep it under the carpet, everything is okay, there is always a third way, it's all shades of grey, we only kid because we love, our similarities outweigh our differences, shut protein up, don't let nills and protein out of their cages...

I also liked:

"I would like to outlaw contraception...contraception is disgusting people using each other for pleasure."

I just figured it'd maybe appear under a title like "talk like Americans" implying that all Americans are like that/think like that. Or all religious people are evil or something else equally inflammatory.

Telling someone to keep information from me incase I post it here is weird behaviour. It's an amusing topic of discussion. It's okay for you to post "stupid americans" because when you do it it's all terribly funny but whenever I do it you turn up and tell everyone I'm hell bent on an anti-american crusade.

Anyway. Let this thread drop.

And whilst it's hardly news that some of the American extreme Christian right are extremely offensive in their beliefs but that site has a clear adjenda to link W with some of their more extreme rhetoric.

His quotes on that site, whilst distasteful, aren't anywhere near in the same league as a lot of the others. I just find that kind of really obvious manipulative propoganda a bit distasteful no matter which side it's supporting.

I was only joking, and Alex knew I was. And I shouldn't have posted the Stupid Americans thread either.

Nah.

It's just that a lot of posters see this place as a bit of an escape from all the serious crap in the world. There are plenty of places on the internet (eg. Poly) where people do the whole political headbutting thing all day and that's fine.

I think it's a bit pointless though. Everyone has their own opinion on stuff. After not too long on forums anywhere on the internet you can pretty much predict exactly where every 'debate' will go. No-one ever changes their opinion but people do get angry and/or offended and say stuff they don't really mean, it gets all personal etc.

Gary
11-10-2005, 12:53:22
One needs a percentage of non-inane stuff or you feel guilty about being here.

Variety and all that.

Well, I think they should stick to playing MMO games. You can't talk to people without them airing views that are important.

Yeah, but there's non-inane and non-inane. I dunno. Basically it's a free forum, anyone can post what they want and anyone can say if they think it sucks or not.

protein is officially retardedly obsessive compulsive. Like a crazy UFO hunter. Or that Conspiracy character from that Mel Gibson conspiracy movie. It's borderline insanity, and instanity should be locked up in a glass cell so we can study it and laugh at it.

Why not?

Nills Lagerbaak
11-10-2005, 14:56:23
Because by throwing stones at others they risk breaking their cell, which is what they may intend to do, but then they'll have no shelter.

Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.
