and have wanted to react...

this disturbs me, there have been whole years in the last half a decade or so when I haven't been really angry

I was sort of angry, or had a temper, when I was young... which was somewhat the result of being picked on, I am sure (although my dad and brother have/had tempers also)

but I had fantasies of really hurting those who tormented me

but I left them behind in college.. which I was glad to

they haven't really returned.. but I have found myself getting sudden flashes of anger at those arround me when they upset me.. which as I said, I haven't really had in years (And honestly, people don't pick on me like they did before college)

any ideas?

note

I am still a really calm person... I am really surprised by any anger or temper on my part

actually

well sounds all normal to me
showing your agression is only a way to set your boundaries.

Yeah, everyone feels angry every so often. Don't worry about it.

I didn't really get angry from the ages of about 16 to 19. It's unpleasant being angry but it's a big part of being grown up. It's how you deal with the anger that separates you from a hooligan. If you fight it, you'll probably get more angry, start throwing things, storm off, get into fights etc. If you treat the anger as something that has to run it's course and instead of fighting it you treat the emotion with respect you will be able to turn it into a more positive response more quickly. Kind of herding it into positive action rather than negative. Fighting it is like holding your breath and going purple and letting it go is like breathing it out. If that makes any sense. Which it probably doesn't. I'll get my coat.

If you feel aggressive, punch your boss on the nose.

Can't help. I'm much too aggressive myself these days. I think anger control courses would not be a bad thing. Bleeding world !
