You should really invest some money in a videoconferencing thingy, RC.

1. who are you and why did it take yuo so long?
2. did you travel by 747 or similar aircraft allowing you to stroll in the aisles or had you to be seated all time?
3. which movies did you see, which music did you listen to, which books did you read?

For work...

work is for the poor

No work I know about would EVER subject anyone to that.... Or should I re-phrase it: I would never do something like that for any work. What kind of state are you going to be in for the one day that you're there?!

MoSe
10-10-2005, 13:56:16
after you spent ~24 hours doing nothing sitting in a comfy chair?

MoSe
10-10-2005, 13:59:22
besides, the one day you're there would be just like the first day of a longer stay

you won't even have time to suffer the jetlag, it would be just like spending one night awake here... ;)

Ha, I don't think so.

Also I can't even begin to imagine what one-day piece of business could be so important that it could justify at least 2000 (first class) worth of flight

Funko

I'm sure you can. 2000 isn't very much in business terms where deals can be worth millions or even billions.

My brother flew from Miami to Swindon for a day long meeting not long ago. He didnt even have time to meet me for lunch (well, that was his excuse anyway).

Madness.

Yeah but 1 day?! I can't believe any billion dollar deal is going to be struck after 1 day's negotiations.

That's why you're not a businessman.

Once the deal's done you might just have to fly over and sign some papers. Anyway, I'm just saying I can easily imagine it. Not least because RC seems to have to do stuff like that all the time. :)

A big assumption, I have been a travelling business man as it happens.

Yeah, perhaps there are things that important to some people, but I would never, and would never expect a company to make me, travel to Oz for one day?!

I mean I have heard of some pretty insane business related travelling feats but nothing like this. Poor RC :p

You're a has been? Well maybe that's why.

I'm sure this is a bit more involved than door-to-door sales. ;)

You say that like it's a negative thing!

:) Well, it was a day and a half. Yes, it was pretty short and I would normally go for longer but needed to make sure I was back for today and I didn't want to lose my weekend.:)

I needed to catch up with a number of groups of people and the VC thing was turning a bit tricky. So, I thought, fuck it, do the trip and get Monday morning and all of Friday off.

With commodity prices where they are now, 5 grand for a ticket does not break the bank.

You're right there. There's nothing wrong with being a has been. Especially in the business world.

2. 747 of various types via Singapore. Yep you can walk around a bit.
3. I saw Charlie and the Choccyfak. Played a few games on the laptop, played some MP3s and drank loads and loads of red wine :)

Just so there's no confusion - a "has been" because I left as business doesn't really allow time for any other life.

The reasons aren't important. Has beenness requires no excuses.
