View Full Version : Bush: "God told me to invade Iraq"

Somebody get me a nuclear bunker, we're all fucking doomed. There's a fucking insane rightwing evangelist motherfucker divining information from an invisible being in heaven with his finger on the button.

RUN, RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIVES!!!!!

Bush: God told me to invade Iraq

President 'revealed reasons for war in private meeting'

President George Bush has claimed he was told by God to invade Iraq and attack Osama bin Laden's stronghold of Afghanistan as part of a divine mission

...

The revelation comes after Mr Bush launched an impassioned attack yesterday in Washington on Islamic militants, likening their ideology to that of Communism

Well, we all knew that was what drove him, but no it's out...

Scary thing is that the bible thumpers are out in force now, rallying around.

I wonder if it was God that told him to resist Senate driven anti-torture legislation.

Once God detaches himself from this whole debacle, he'll be left with no one but the tooth fairy to blame

I don't believe it. Reading through those bits alarms me. Saying God told him to invade and then slagging off moslems. And then likening them to Communists? WTF? How the hell has this moron been in such a responsible position, and then re elected. I sincerely hope the Chinese do become the next big superpower. It'll be relative sanity...

after reading it I have to wonder if his private statements to these leaders were skewed to appeal to his audience, rather than being his true thoughts.

He's hinted at the mandate of heaven thing in the past, and this fits well with those public statements. I'm leaning toward "true thoughts".

Not clicked your link yet, but yes, that was on Teletext this morning. Then on the BBC site (I think) there was a counter claim. He never said that God told him to invade Iraq, he said that God had given him a mission :) Like there was a difference.... details details ....

If you make a thread entitled "Bush brags about his University education in his private chapel while wearing an England football shirt and disemboweling a Muslim to the sounds of a poorly mixed pop track!" then I think you would hear his screams on the other side of the Atlantic. :D

This was big during the election cycle, when anyone who was religious was accused of being Joan of Arc, like we see here.

White House denies Bush claimed divine inspiration
Oct 07 9:14 AM US/Eastern

The White House has denied that US President George W. Bush said God told him to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, as a new BBC documentary is expected to reveal.

"That's absurd. He's never made such comments," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Thursday.

To be fair there is video of Bush from 2000 where he says he hears God speaking to him. Which in and of itself is a very scary thing for him to say. As for this instance it comes down to creditability. Do we trust Abu or George? I'm not sure which to trust though I do know George has a history of telling porky pies.

fp

Eek, indeed.

The most impressive "issue" of the Onion was the one just after September 11th. That was a pretty daunting thing to try and derive comedy from, but they did a great job. The lead headline was "Holy fucking shit!" and (IIRC) a the articles were along the lines of "God angrily repeats 'no killing' rule", "Real life turns into Jerry Bruckheimer movie" and "Area woman, unsure how to react, bakes big flag-shaped cake".

Adult-Entertainment Industry Donates $100,000 In Charity Sex To Hurricane Victims

October 5, 2005 | Issue 41•40

VAN NUYS, CA—Citing the need for a "nationwide outpouring of love," the American Adult Entertainment Foundation announced Monday that it will donate $100,000 worth of charity sex to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. "We have truckloads of willing, wild, and wet porn-industry professionals heading to refugee centers right now to take it in every hole from Katrina survivors," said AAEF spokeslut Vivica Vixxxen. "We're ready for a no-holes-barred orgy of disaster-relief action." Vixxxen added: "Of course, we'll wait until the victims are rehydrated and rested up enough to manage it."

BBC is reporting that the Palestinians are standing by that Bush did indeed claim god spoke to him though some are trying to down play it by saying they didn't think Bush literally meant he spoke to god when he claimed to speak with god.

Did you read the article? Bush was speaking to Abu Mazen when he supposedly said that he spoke to god so it makes sense that the Palestinians are the ones who are reporting this. My take is that Bush thought since he was speaking to Arabs he'd some how get more acceptance if he brought god into the conversation.

That's just a guess but it is better then the alternative (that Bush really does think he talks with god on a regular basis). In any event I'm going to trust the BBC's report because Bush has been caught making multiple lies while the BBC maintains a very good reputation in the media business.
