What was the first thing you posted here at CG.

When I was a little boy my parents wouldn't buy me toys so I made toys... out of meat. "meat toys" I called them, because they were made of meat.

I know what you're thinking. you're thinking "how did you you make your toys out of meat?". the answer is simpler than you'd think, I'd get some beef. id cut the beef into cubes. I'd put them together using toothpicks. Meat toys. 1-2-3.

I made all kinds of meat toys. I made meat men and meat cars and meat rocketships. I even made meat lego. I used to play with the meat lego for hours and hours and hours putting the little tubes of meat together and taking them apart until the meat started to fall apart and my hands and the carpet were red and attracting flies. but i didnt care. i had my meat toys. What more could a boy want but meat toys?

I know what you're thinking, am I an orphan? Why didn't my parents buy me real toys the way that parents are supposed to? Im not an orphan. My parents did not buy me real toys because they were busy, my father was a butcher. He had his own butcher shop. He used to spend all day there and come back home in his white apron stained and smelling like blood. I'd hug him as he came home. He'd look at me like he didnt know who I was. It didn't make me feel like meat. He always knew what meat was.

My mum didnt have a job. She was a mummy. She used to clean a lot when I was really little but then dad started looking at her like he didnt know her too and sometimes at night strange sounds would come out of their bedroom and my dads voice would come out all muffled and weird and one night mom ran out crying and went to the bathroom to throw up. After that she didnt clean much. She just took a lot of pills every day and
watched tv.

So my parents were very busy, but I didn't mind. I had my meat toys, but I had to be careful because one day I took my meat toys to school and started playing with them and someone told the teacher and the teacher looked at me in a bad way and called my mum. My mum came to school and listened to the teacher and said she'd help me and then took me home, but she didn't help me. She just took more pills than usual. I didnt go to school again after that.

But that was a long time ago. now im 18. I'm a man. Mum and dad aren't here anymore and it doesn't matter why they just aren't so im a man now in my empty big house. I put away my meat toys because men dont play with toys. This made me lonely and it took me a while to figure out why that was. Then I figured out that i needed a girlfriend.

Like I said im a man now and it wont be long. I already know who
the girl is. She's sitting on the couch. I know what her body looks like but I havent finished the head yet. It'll just take a little more meat I think.... just a little more meat.

This was mine. I can't even remember writing that. It's weird how you look back on old posts and sometimes it doesn't seem like you could write that.

That party spanned about 2 weeks and 3 forums I think :D

Yep.

September 2001 when LadyRachel was over here beating up Nav, Shakey and PosterBoy was when things went nuts at ACOL and the idea for this place was first seriously set into motion. Shortly after that Aredhran came over as well and we hammered the idea into shape.

It's an interesting point, about buying new games.
I haven't, in years.
I used to buy new games all the time, back in the ol NES days.
That system had so many games that were good, then came Sega, then SNES, then the 32 bit systems, then 64...PC games, DOS based, then all the rest...

I quickly came to understand that unless I was a millionaire (not even close) I couldn't possibly keep up, so I stopped trying.

I remember when you got a game, you would take it home, play it endlessly, hope for hints, feel that triumph at passing some rough spot, be it a tricky manuver, or a tough boss, and feel so good about it, only to find that some stupid kid knew a better easier way then the hours you spent doing it! *little bastards!* :bash:

But I digress, the point was, I used to enjoy it so, and now, years later, I rarely feel that special game feel, and since I'm old and with a family now, there are no "game weekends" anymore, where some game was worked on for days on end! I remember one Christmas, my brother and I beating several Konami NES games, like Contra and such, without cheat codes, and thinking it was just great! Good memories of days gone by, that it seems, will never come again. :(

Which brings me back to the begining, soon my boy will be old enough to really enjoy games, so I will have to shell out for them anyway, and remember days in HS when games like "Missle command" and "Defender" looked so cool, and are now laughable. I can still remember playing "Space invaders" in a night club! :o
Man, was that really 20+ years ago?
Where does the time go?

The second film's good, but doesn't have quite the same visceral effect simply because after seeing the first you know what's happening, and you're expecting the kind of imagery that floored you in the previous installment.

I'm sceptical about the Hollywood remake, but I guess I'll give it a chance... if only so that I can authoratitively say that it's awful :D
Evidence that my head being inserted firmly up my arse where films & music are concerned is not a recent phenomenon.

I never thought to try with a ' ' after those rejects....

Funny, that's what whistler said to the ACOLytes at SidGames.
