This is the name of his latest single. Is he aware of the irony?

Surely this guy should have been a gangstah rappah.

He's supposed to have very good cocaine dealer connections. Hence the record deal.*

Nah, he got a record deal because many many 30+ year old women love his rubbish songs. You should see peole where I work, they have 'You're Beautiful' as their phone ringtone and crazy shit like that. And these are ordinarily totally average everyday people (women) with kids and mortgages etc. All those people that only by one album a year; this year they bought his. It's scary stuff.

*yawn*

My neighbour was playing Maroon 5 at full blast last night when I was trying to sleep. How one band can reach such heights of incredulity is astonishing. However surprisingly common - look at Keane or Coldplay. I am amazed that there are people who are dull and boring enough to listen to this sort of pap...

do you know what incredulity means?

if you do can you explain what you meant by 'How one band can reach such heights of incredulity is astonishing'?

Why do people have to be dull and boring to listen to Keane and Coldplay?

How are you more exciting than someone else because you like Bad Religion?

Because you just are.

If there's one reason why I like James Blunt, its that according to "a recent survey", "You're Beautiful" is now the most popular first dance for newly weds. That just shows people to be stupid and that they don't listen to the lyrics of songs. I can imagine some blonde airhead "off the estate" called Donna telling her fiance that they should have "that song that goes you're beautiful" as their first dance. I pity them.

I just thinks it's funny how you think you're more exciting than people who listen to Coldplay.

it's hysterically funny, especially when he follows that comment by posting a thread about maximo park (still empty of posts at time of writing, mainly i imagine because of the implied insult to all posters contained therein)

In all seriousness though, there's not actually much of an argument for Coldplay being good going on here. Whats good about them?

They're competent musicians who have tapped into a market of wetbag youngsters and middle-aged couples, but apart from that............

But you love Keane wots and wots? ;)

Bad Religion may have once been a potent and important band on the west coast punk scene, but when it reaches the point where they're churning out their 15th identical sounding album I think it's pretty obvious any vitality and ability to shock that they once had is long gone, rendering their music as dull and impotent as all the Coldplay's and Keane's of this world.

Provost Harrison

And what has Bad Religion got to do with anything? The only way it has context is that I listen to them, which means that is some sort of attack against me. It doesn't matter how many other people call James Blunt et al dull, I will still get the crap when I voice my opinion. Don't like my musical taste? Go fuck yourself...

Well you see, when Matt said "How are you more exciting than someone else because you like Bad Religion?" you replied "Rhetorical questions?", as if to imply that Bad Religion were intrinsically more exciting. I was just pointing out that they weren't. No need to throw your toys out of your pram.

It's not that I don't like your musical taste; I dislike the fact that your quick to stereotype people with different music taste to yourself. I even like some Bad Religion and Sex Pistols songs.

I found it funny you think people who listen to Coldplay are dull. I quite like some Coldplay and even Keane songs and I think I've got a hugely varied and exciting life - I certainly don't think I'm an exception to the rule. Some of my mates like the same bands as I do - some of them have travelled the world and lead a far more exciting life than you probably ever WILL lead.

You need to face up to the fact that music isn't everybody's life most people just like songs that sound good to them and don't give a shit about who the band a trying to appeal to; or where the band formed.

Because everytime I mention what music I like or try and demonstrate I just get a bad attitude back.

As for the Bad Religion thing, I don't care who brought it up. My reply to Matt was intended to be humorous anyway but as per usual, you are all very quick to take me literally on everything I say, same with the 'God and Bush' thread. You know chaps, you're really bugging me at the moment...

Sorry, I didn't want to upset you. It's just a pet hate of mine when people judge others on the music they like. :D

If you read my post, I never made a personal attack. I said 'I don't believe there are people dull and boring enough to listen to this sort of pap'. It seems that constantly people say far worse than I do and don't even get a word said about it.

I said I find bands such as Maroon 5 or Keane or Coldplay boring. I never implicated anyone or any group of people...my expression was that I don't understand what people can see in this stuff.

And for Christ's sake, I get enough stick for my musical taste...have you read any of the LWP reviews?

With shit like this, I constantly feel put off posting anything about what I like or what I listen to. Hence my nervousness about posting the Maximo Park thread...and it looks like I was right...
