You, CG, are in charge of my entertainment this afternoon.

Select a letter of the alphabet to indicate which artist I should listen to.

Note, further letter(s) may be required if you select a letter which corresponds to multiple atrists.

Further note, selections may be overruled on the basis of "not listening to that crap".

U = Unknown.
Interesting choice. First one in this selection is the theme from Fraggle Rock :D

W = Wildhearts, but you knew that :) Pick album number 1-4 (in relation to how they're listed on my hard drive, nothing to do with release order!)

I do, but White Stripes were disqualified by the further note.

Wildhearts 3 = Best of.
Not bad, I'll go with 29x the Pain

J (Gotta be some Joy Division or James)

Tizzy

A few single tracks, including James Taylor and Jimi Hendrix.
Album is Joe Satriani, another nice choice. "Summer Song" it is.

I'd say "M" but you'd probably be compelled to listen to some crap from some crap local band, and I like you too much to make you do that.

"His master's voice". Their logo (dating from about 100 years ago) was a puzzled dog staring down the speaker of a gramophone.

the phone rang the other day, and I didn't want to get it and the awnsering machine got it. My wife, who is gone, recorded the msg and when the dog heard it she (the dog) began to whine.

It predates RCA by quite a few years. RCA bought Victor (and the image) in 1929, and Victor had in turn inherited the image from its predecessor The Gramophone Company, literally "the first major".

The British Gramophone Company, a separate corporation to its american counterpart, lived on much longer and the discs we all recognise with the "His Master's Voice" label on them. They in turn opened to store chain, and then became part of EMI (in 1931), which owned HMV until 1998.

Now this is before we start to involve Japan and the surprising transformation of Victor into an electronics giant.
