View Full Version : Countdown to Rotterdam - tedious organisational details thread

Funko

This is a serious thread.

Tizzy and I arrive in Rotterdam on the 21st October, which is only 17 days!

Here's the current schedule from my point of view as far as I understand it.

I believe that zmama is arriving in the UK on the morning of the 19th which is a mere 15 days away. During the evening she gets to see the great band Müf play a gig.

At some point she is getting collected in Reading by MOBIUS who'll then drive her to Rotterdam.

Tizzy and I leave Reading at 5:30 in the morning of Friday the 21st to check in for our 7:50 flight from Heathrow.

We land at about 10am and will then be taking the Uno in to town from Rotterdam airport to Gandertak Towers hotel where we are staying.

We then fly back from Rotterdam to Heathrow on Tuesday 25th flight at 15:55

Starve 2 weeks to get into the red trousers again
get fit for the USUK vs RotW challenge
refuel the car
buy culatello
check with friend if she brought pecorino from sardinia
buy red wines
fetch sleepingbag from the attic
remember to take with a little thing I have to bring to someone
decide at the last minute whether to get in Rotterdam Thu 20 nite or sleep on the way and arrive Fri 21 before lunch

Funko

The USUK RotW challenge might not be able to happen due to not being able to field a USUK team.

Arrive Fri 21st before lunch, that's when we're getting there.

WRONG!

Meals are governed by the time of day, not what number meal of the day it is for you.

Because, even if you played by your seriously wrong rules, you'd be eating breakfast, not brunch.

So you're wrong twice. Once for the correct way, and once for even your stupid, incorrect way.

Restaurants that cater to the brunch subculture may offer brunch as late as 5 p.m. on weekends, though cutoff times between 2 and 3 p.m. are more common.

Google - define: brunch

# A late breakfast, usually eaten on weekends.
www.glencoe.com/sec/busadmin/marketing/dp/rest_mgmt/gloss.shtml

# eat a meal in the late morning; "We brunch in Sundays"
# combination breakfast and lunch; usually served in late morning
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

# Brunch is a late morning meal between breakfast and lunch, as a replacement to both meals, usually eaten when one rises too late to eat breakfast, or as a specially-planned meal. The term is a portmanteau of breakfast and lunch. Brunch can be served after a morning event or prior to an afternoon one, such as a wedding or sporting event. It is usually a more relaxed meal than breakfast or lunch, and considered appropriate for informal celebrations.
