View Full Version : Free Game of the Week - Soldat

Let me begin with saying that the following is an uncanny entry into the FGotW, since it's:
1. not an online game - you have to download it and install it.
2. technically it's shareware - but there are practically no restrictions on the unregistered version whatsoever.

The game is basically "a unique side-view [...] action game", as the author puts it (both singleplayer and multiplayer). You control a small soldier whose goal is mostly to eviscarate, perforate and otherwise mutilate your opponents with a wide chocie of weapons (ranging from a set of pistols to a flamethrower). The game is very playable, partially thanks to its fast-paced action, many game modes (from classic deathmatch to "rambomatch") and excellent physics.

I have this feeling that if I hadn't placed the disclaimer on the top, this thread would get more posts :hmm:.

Anyway, the game really is great fun, so play, damnit!

I like this game a lot :)Its very hectic and I love the way recoil works

It was a bit wierd at first as the opening screen had buttons but no text, but then I just clicked on the large green rectangle in the middle and it got me to the start menu...

Finally, someone believed me \o/.

Here's a Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldat) to provide more info.

Looking back at that archive I'm surprised at how many games I actually posted back when I did this.

Didn't notice that. Nav also didn't remember that.

Anyway, the game is way different then what it was in terms of games dynamics, so it was worth a revisit.

Also, a CG deathmatch game anyone?
