Thread title says it all. Damn desktop icons quit working (well, at least the two that I tried did -- Firefox and IE). I can load them through the applications menu (IE, anyway, haven't tried FF). Any ideas why this might be?

Somebody took a screenshot of your desktop, set it to be your background, and deleted all your icons.

It's basically the internal map of your computer. Tells the operating system where everything is located on the hard drive and how to operate it.

It's an easy way to fuck up your PC.

The windows registry is shit.

Why do Microsoft insist on building their shit around a really fragile file that fucks everything up if it breaks?

eg.
Windows registry
Exchange mailbox
