View Full Version : Damn the Navy!

The air base near my house is having the annual air show in two weeks so they've brought in a bunch of planes for the show and they have the Navy's stunt pilots "The Blue Angels" practicing over my house. It's cool to watch but the noise is a bit much.

I guess I can't complain since the base was there before my house and truth be told I'm kind of used to it. Thankfully it only happens once a year and the Navy is considerate enough to stop practicing around 6pm so people can have a quiet evening without the planes. I just wish they'd find another house to practice over.

Are you in customer service? I imagine all that noise would make it more difficult to talk to people on the phone. Luckily, it should be over in a little while.

Agreed. I hate most of the wankers I work with much less the customers. ;)

I work as a geologist which is normally a great job but this company sucks donkey balls. They love to budget 1/4 of the hours needed to realistically do any job then tell you to just work the other 6 hours and not charge it which means I think have to work 50-60 hours per week just to be able to bill the 35 they require. They do that to everyone and we all hate it expect for the boss who gets all that free work which he doesn't have to pay people for.

I've applied to several jobs at the forest service and I'm hoping to get a hydrologist's position in the local national forest. That would be nice and outdoorsy without having to worry about over time or hours billed. Hell, they'd even pay $10k more per year so I'm totally thinking the government is the way to go.

i like the two guys in my department, hate the other department with a passion (billing department..the dept i left) and could do without the clients.
