SHAMELESS PLUG!

I just got me a Premier Plus current account at the Alliance & Leicester which gives you 5% interest, free travel insurance, cashback credit card etc as long as you pay at least 1000pcm into it...

A pretty fucking good deal if you ask me!

Anyway if you open an account online you get 25 for your trouble and if you let me tell them I'm your friend when your account is open, we both get 50 each.

You can tell me to fuck off if you like but you have to admit it is an easy 75 for probably a better account than you already have...:D

Scratch that - seems like the 25 bit is over...:o

You can still make 50 though...:)

I bank with Barclays, it's not too hard to have a better account than I already have :p

Actually MOBIUS I have been looking at changing current account for quite some time because Barclays are cunts...it is just changing all my payment details over which looks like a lot of hard work...

Doesn't take long at all and you don't have to do that till after you've opened your account...

You're really plugging aren't you? :p

And besides, where do you get 1000 a month from, student? :p

Most banks will do it for you.

Sorry to be difficult but I have had exactly that bank account since 1988

I've just set up a direct debit from my savings account...:cute:

Yeah, well I've promised I would change my bank account once my overdraft is paid, which it is. Barclays have been pains in the backside, including changing my overdraft rate from 7.9% to 17.8% without telling me and then telling me it was all in the small print of something I signed 10 years ago. Wouldn't give me overdraft extensions (temporary ones) when I really, really needed it when moving. And the last time I applied for a personal loan from them, they had the audacity to offer me a 19.9% APR, as a long-standing customer of theirs.

Disgusted, from Eltham...

sounds about right, I dumped most of my barclays accounts last year after being their customer for 15 years.

Stupid cunts sent me out new bank cards which weren't delivered and then cancelled my old ones.

Hmm... I pay 1,000 pounds a month to get 50 quid.

(thinks).

Fuck off.

Are you earning more than 1,000 net?

You gotta put it somewhere, why not put it into a high interest current account earning 5% instead of a high street one paying you 0.1% on average.

And you get given 50 for improving your financial situation...

Still it is your prerogative to look a gift horse in the mouth.:)

It is indeed my prerogitive to tell bankers who lend my money to unethical projects (pharma, gun runners and governments) to fuck off.

Union Bank of California just offered my $75 to open a checking account with them. I might just open the account, get the money, then close the account. More then likely I won't be bothered though.

I waited until I got home to read this: I though it was a not-work-safe thread about prostitution.

Thanks mobius you got me into action about setting up my own savings account, however not with alliance & leicester, but maybe I should give you 50 anyway... naaah. :D

caveat on that account the interest rate only applies upto 2500 (spend thrifts would still need a separate savings account).

Well it is silly to have more money than that sat around in your current account anyway...

You know MOBIUS, you may have a deal though! I'll do it when I come back off holiday - I can't wait to kick Barclays in the teeth...
