Very good novel. Eggers has been compared to Kerouac...don't see it, other than the "voice of a generation" type stuff.

Finished "Last Rounds" (appropriately about a dying father and son spending time together touring some famous Euro golf courses)...pretty good, especially if you like golf.

Also finished "The Scar" and "Iron Council"...steam punk from China Mielville...very good. Hope he continues the New Corubuzon theme. He has another book out...something Jack or Jake or similar...anyone read it? Or King Rat? The two I haven't read yet.

Have read King Rat, very good. Not the same world as the New Corubuzon. Set in London but with an alternate twist. Very good though.

Shit...it's "You SHALL Know.....".
Very, very good.
Have started to read his freshman, non-fiction work.
If you like alternately hilarious and sad, read it: "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius."

He is also the editor/founder of a literary quarterly/event called "McSweeney's".
Seems like the motive force behind some good literature in the U.S. right now, which is where all the best shoe gazing/self indulgent/brilliant writers seem to crop up. You Euros are better technically by far, but we are a punch to the emotional solar plexus.

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm reading a bit more (I'm back in the writing groove and always prime up with about a dozen or two rapid-read books of my similar 'voice' first) and most of it is about death. Yeah..predictable..so what?

Anywho...check this guy out...I think you'll be happy.
