View Full Version : hmm, should I stay or should I go?

I think I have the possibility of doing in RA (and getting my PHD) in experimental nuclear physics..

I am not totally sure about this, for many different reasons.. some of which have to do with me needing to leave within a month.. (probably within two weeks).

will post more late, let's just say that I don't have many options right now

Isn't that what you're doing right now?

01-09-2005, 01:09:09
right now I am doing nothing

I guess I am taking a couple of classes

but I am not getting paid...

or working..

or furthering my PHD

I need to do some research, and most/all of the people who would take me, don't have positions open.. (don't have money)

others just flat out won't take me, and still more would want me to do a trial period (sort of what I was doing last semester)

Right now if I was in your position, I think I'd take any opportunity that presented itself.

Like the old Knees Position.

A man of your limited talent needs to be sucking as much dick as possible to open some doors. Opportunity doesn't always knock, but it always enjoys a blow job.

I agree with Venom.

You are a lazy sack of sheit and if you don't take the RA position you deserve what will come... and we won't want to hear you crying any more.

speak for yourself

If you stay will there be trouble ?

You need to post more details, at the moment there seems no reason not to grab an opportunity with both hands.

01-09-2005, 14:56:24
If you go there will be double.

neej daar heb ik helegaar gin zin in

I am still not sure..

there is a lot of reasons to not go

I don't like moving. I would be leaving my freinds (including my best freinds of a decade). I would need to fine someone to take over my lease. There will be less available hot girls arround (of course, I haven't gotten anywhere with living at the university). All the nice things of living in proximaty to a major university and major city will not be available.

it ought to be etched into his mind forever

I would need to fine someone to take over my lease.

The only excuse that matter... even then, though, that is not hard to remedy.

Friends don't stop being friends because you move... you'll make more friends.

"I don't like moving" sounds like an excuse rather than a reason.

Hot chicks are everywhere... as are ugly ones.

Most of the above can be summed up as "fear of change". Not wanting to leave the familiar.

You don't progress as an individual unless you can push that sort of thing aside. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

It's never as bad when you get sorted anyway.

I use to be real bad at making freinds. I think that I am better now though.

I don't know, I have been praying a lot for God to lead me, and almost every other possibility has closed. (still one professor who is trying to decide between my best freind, I, and a third person)

right now my life is made up of my freinds, and a little game time and physics time

and CG?

Get your career started, and I bet if you ask your friends they would encourage you to do the same.

Give it a try - better to do something than nothing.

Although I've always steered clear of the Venom "Suck your way through life" modus operandi.

muy freinds all want me to stay

I still don't know.. maybe Ishold go for one of the possible opportunities in 4 months....

Where would you be going? Fermilab?

02-09-2005, 08:24:44
Jefferson Labs

nuclear, instead of particle

02-09-2005, 12:31:12
one of the possibilities (but for the future, like in ~4 months) is for particle...

which would have my move, or be gone, for a good ammount of time

02-09-2005, 12:33:12
that is one of the reasons that I am thinking of just leaving now, with this nuclear thing

if I am going to leave now, or in 6 months, I am not sure what difference it makes

Terminal Masters in Dec (likely won't get paid for a semester)
Go to Jefferson Labs to persue a PHD in experimental nuclear
Join in one of the groups that will have money in the future with the understanding that I would get paid at that time (won't get paid this semesteR)

possibly some more, I haven't talked to everyone in the department, and one group is still deciding if they will accept me
