Eight.

New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, the odd ones in late May and August, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Scots get nine, due to the Hogmany holiday (New Year's Eve).

we don't get national holidays like other countries so we have bank hols instead. Except civil servants who get two days for the queens birthday (actual and official)

I nearly bought monkey nuts when I was shopping today, but I didn't. I'm all upset now because you made me want some

I am assuming "monkey nuts" is another one of those English expressions, and that you are not wanting to consume some poor primate's testicles.

Royalty is always born twice.

It's a technicality. One celebrates her actual birth, while the other celebrates the first time she looked sour and evil.

Actually, Hogmanay isn't a holiday, it's January 2nd.
We need the extra day to get over Hogmanay :D
