Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

i could not imagine a world without countries, how hard I try. Do I lack imagination?

Yes.
You have failed the imagination class, you'll have to resit it next year.

At the current pace, the whole world will be part of the EU by 2060.

Oh, wait, we still have Turkey... :nervous:

Could I imagine no wars, no hatred based on race or religion, "a brotherhood of man"? Yep. Will it ever happen? Not in this milenium.

Drek, you can't imagine how we could possibly manage to get there, or you can't figure out just how it would/could work?

Summary:
- we'll never get there
or
- can't picture how it would be

Drekkus

can't picture how it would be.

Weeeeellll, you can picture a worldwide federal country, like the USA, or a worldwide Russia... (which is also a union or a federation, can't recall offhand...).
Or China or India being just 20, 50, 100 times bigger than they already are, encompassing all the world.
Those countries already contain different ethnicities and languages and administrations locally, besides the central unified and official one making them one country.

The World Cup would be rubbish without any countries.

Japher

Lenon was an idiot... we need countries.

Drekkus
16-08-2005, 14:41:41
and replacing countries with federations is no use either.

Countries are really just part and parcel of providing definition and identity to the human experience. Identity is important for being an individual.

Funko

So if I get an ID card I don't need a country.

Funko
16-08-2005, 14:55:16
And people have regional identities within countries...

Japher
16-08-2005, 14:55:52
Someone has to issue the ID card.

The global government. But then you'll need local governments, which would be quite the same as countries.

Japher
16-08-2005, 15:13:39
and all the global governement will do is sit around and talk about action and issue warinings and other paper like documents... which is pretty much what the UN does.

Funko
16-08-2005, 15:14:43
Why would they be any different to the governments we have now?

The UN's problem is it has no power.

MoSe
16-08-2005, 15:18:26
it's UNpowerful
