Oh, and they're resetting the ladder August 8th.

Say what you want about Blizzard, I have never seen this level of support for any game this long after release, except for subsription games -- and this ain't.

Perhaps they see, by supporting their present customer base, they're more likely to keep and even extend that customer base into the future? Of course, having quality games helps.

I'm not sure I'd have bought World of Warcraft had it not been for Diablo II, which includes patches, support, extra content etc. So far, it's certainly been the one game I've logged the most PC hours with. WoW might surpass it, eventually, but that's gonna be a few years down the track.

I was sure I'd seen an exe for the 1.11 patvh already out there, however. *googles* Ah yes, here 'tis: http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=3256

We're talking 4+ years after the game was released they're still supporting it! Damn, now that is a game company I want to buy product from.

I still see the game on the regular game shelves (not the bargain bin). I'd imagine they still sell decently. I wonder how many people play diablo2 on battle.net daily.

I have finally deleted the game for the last time (I think). Though every time I do that, someone creates a diablo2 thread and that gets me in the mood again. So I install it again. It's a long install, and takes a while to download all the patches. So I don't want to do that again. :)

Yeah, but they killed Blizzard North.

You'd think they'd not have to rely on patches. (bloody useless PC game developers)
