did you watch it? it was hilarious - the astronaut just wanted to pull the damned things out, but the guys on the ground kept asking questions 'where are you tethered' 'what's your sign' 'wait, we can't see yet' 'are your feet and head away from the shuttle' 'OK, good, your hands are closest'

He was VERY patient, but there was an edge to his voice by the end. Probably wanted to go back inside ASAP.

They were entirely freaked by the threat of more damage. If you had the media pouring over every tiny mark on the shuttle, the last thing you'd want is the astronaut bumping in to things.

They should have sent up AstroLaz, monitored and guided by Aredhran

Could this be the start of the ISS being the first orbital repair facility?

I mean, if they want to send people up with payloads then NASA need a garage at either end, so to speak.

Orbital bombardment, if I'm reading this incorrectly addressed email correctly.

What do you think the odds are that it will explode on re-entry? 2:1, 4:1, 10:1?

Venom

I'd think 20-1 would probably be pretty good odds.

those aren't very good, though probably accurate
