A recursion is an expression, such as a polynomial, each term of which is determined by application of a formula to preceding terms.

And recursive is the related adjective, ie. relating to a recursion.

I'd beg to differ...

something that can repeat itself indefinitely it's not necessarily recursive, it's just repetitive, cyclic.

to be recursive you need that one of the substeps of the procedure consists again of the whole procedure itself applied on a different component
