I got 91% with an average error of 12 miles.

23-07-2005, 23:51:22
My geography is pants, and I don't need some online test to tell me that

23-07-2005, 23:55:15
I'm too scared to take the test. It will make me look stoopid.

24-07-2005, 00:01:55
64% 170 miles.

24-07-2005, 00:04:42
i thought i was doing fine and then came luxembourg lichnenstain and san marino

24-07-2005, 00:15:25

Not bad for an American ... Especially considering that about 4 where pretty close to where they were.

24-07-2005, 00:31:09
44 out of 45.

24-07-2005, 00:48:31

24-07-2005, 00:54:21
44/45 average error 7 miles.

The order that countries come can make a huge difference. The fact that the ordering is random on each repeat makes score comparisons fairly meaningless.

24-07-2005, 01:07:26
82%, 46 miles - its the small ones that screw you up...! I seemed to get a couple like Luxembourg at the start, and its so easy to get those off slightly without France and Germany etc to guide you...

43/45. Although I should have gotten 44 since I accidentally dropped Cyprus in the middle of the mediterranean.

82% 41 miles. They teach us convicts something I suppose. :cute:

I think the only small one I got right was Vatican City. I knew where most of the others were (roughly), but with no point of reference at the time, got them wrong.

24-07-2005, 06:50:28
Wow, I think I found a subject that I actually know less about than attracting females.

24-07-2005, 07:31:08
96% 5 miles

24-07-2005, 08:53:07
I gave up. :)

My geography is horribly out of date. When I was a kid, I would do nothing but read our atlas all day (I was very bored as a kid- this was back before computer games). Or sometimes I read the encyclepedia. All my geography is based on our atlas which was published around 1970.

All these former soviet countries, and yugoslavian countries kick my ass.

I'd have to agree. I got fairly lucky and had several big ones come first so I had restraining features to nail the littles with. Mind you I knew where they all were anyway, however, it does help to be able to nail it exactly. The one I didn't get was San Marino. I was close but not close enough.

24-07-2005, 09:22:18
I've just realised I was totally wrong about where I thought Bulgaria and Malta were.

I got Belarus for my first country. That screwed me up.

24-07-2005, 12:54:40
Belarus, it screws you up it does.

24-07-2005, 15:06:58
93%, av 22 miles. Moldova was a way off, as was Andorra.

Misplaced Moldavia, Sovenia and hungary on the blank map, missed on Lux, and never heard of San Marino.

Good for an American. I think I'd struggle with one for the States.

European score: 37/45, 82%, 31 miles error; 822 seconds

Can't believe it never gave me Andorra. I had it between the right two countries.

It seems I'm better at asia than europe.

25-07-2005, 01:26:41
Yes, I'm not very good at the Asian area. 23/32 avg error 261

So I missed often. By a lot.

25-07-2005, 01:52:46
There is the odd ridiculous country.

Where is Knurgajikisthan?

That is incorrect.

Where is the Isle of Stripoline?

That is incorrect.

25-07-2005, 03:39:17
How about Africa? Especially at level 6 or above, where the countries disappear afterwards... :nervous:

47/53 at level 3, average error 25 miles

Asia: 29/32 avg. 63 mi. Got screwed over by all the -stans...

25-07-2005, 10:04:23
I must say the level 3 ones are often more about puzzling than geography, what piece fits where. Level 5 and up is where I really lose it.

Where's the africa one, btw?

25-07-2005, 10:04:55

25-07-2005, 10:11:03
That one I really screwed up...40/53, avg. 168mi.

25-07-2005, 10:40:54
Europe: 0 errors 0 miles 247 seconds

25-07-2005, 10:47:20
Only if you can have the same score on Level 6, you actually have a good geography knowledge.

25-07-2005, 11:04:02
I just found out there are more levels... :)
you know, I have to do it in the background whijle working

besides, I retook the test to see whether I had missed a button to advance levels, and indeed I got Belarus 1st too, and I misplaced it just enough to make it red, same for Czechia as 2nd... :cute: it's crucial to get the coastal countries first :D

I had only time to take #4 in the meanwhile, and I can't believe HOW that could be rated harder than #3

25-07-2005, 11:14:21
That's why it's more of a puzzle then a knowledge test, if the countries done stay on the map. In level 6 they dissapear again afte placing, and then it's a lot more difficult to place them correctly, but even then getting the big or coastal countries first helps.

89%...gave my Belarus to start...I thought it was damn close. Bastard...

85% for African capitals...

25-07-2005, 12:17:09
76%, 122 miles :( Eastern Europe was a mess, and the little San Marino's were horrible, too. There was only the USSR when I first learned E. Europe.

Provost Harrison
25-07-2005, 12:23:31
Haha 100% for South America (level 3). I think I got 50% for US state capitals...

Provost Harrison
25-07-2005, 12:29:27
90% for location of US states...it's really difficult to place those which are just squares when there is nothing surrounding them

50% on that one...

25-07-2005, 12:42:36
sheesh, I got austriala, papua new guinee and new zealand right on that one.

25-07-2005, 12:57:15
I got 7 of that one, New caledonia, NZ, Solomons, Micronesia, wake, Aus and Papua.

25-07-2005, 13:14:23
47/53 in Africa. The bastards stated off with several small inland countries which were very hard to place exactly without the big countries already being there.

Provost Harrison
25-07-2005, 13:15:12
Yeah, I've had that where it asks you to place something like Liechtenstein first :bash:

25-07-2005, 13:18:29
South America 20/20 error of 0 miles.

Yeah, I think they started my off with Burundi, Burkina Faso, and Lesotho. I knew about where they were but getting an exact match with no large countries as refrences is pretty difficult.

25-07-2005, 15:18:26
44/45 98% 2 miles 296 seconds

Having to plonk Slovakia on a practically blank map was what did me - it was very close but obviously not close enough...;)

25-07-2005, 15:24:28
