...post from new job.

Not got any form of desk yet but things are obviously hectic with no pupils being in and 8 weeks to sort everything out.

Really loving it though!

It doesn't require a gigantic leap of imagination to figure that one out ;)

I'm currently setting up and configuring two HUGE brand new servers.

It's great actually having time in the day to look over Slashdot/The Register/BBC News and see what's going on in the world.

Loving this new job so much, and I'm moving house in two weeks - so no more knocks on the door at 2am with alcoholics threatening to smash my face in. :D

Oh my job is currently ridiculous...typical of present day corporations, lay off too many people and then there aren't enough remaining to do the job. They just hire temps who have a high turnover rate. Because of this I am now left with the job of validating a system - something I have never, ever done before and don't really know where to start. Hmmm...

Don't start yet, first you have to evaluate your validating procedures.

Matt, are most teacher still computer illiterate??! :)

Oh absolutely, I am not going to go any further without some proper briefing or training otherwise I will just make an utter pig's ear of it ;)

I'm not too sure yet. The staff are off until September time. So at the moment it's figuring how to spend a huge budget then installing everything we've bought. From what I'm told they all seem to be pretty comfortable with a PC - many requests for password changing and disappearing shortcuts etc..

The network is accross 5 sites around Manchester and there are about 1,000 users so it's pretty vast.
