we'd need a rolleyes thread icon...

we got back a KO from the 3rd party supplier provisioning/delivering the physical lines to our customers, because "the final user could not be found or contacted for the installation"

We turned then to the customer reference to check for their availability, and he replied us:
"I checked with the branch manager involved. He DENIES he had ever received any call from the supplier.
That branch is only open in the morning, mon-fri 9-13"

"??? what the.... that's INDEED what we were..... naaaaaahhhh forget it, it's all OK"

oh, good gosh...

HAD the final customer received a call from the supplier, THEN the supplier would not have reported he could not contact him...
...or is it just me????

I'm completely confused, too.

interesting HAD-THEN statement, though :)

How do you get back a KO? Doesn't it imply you delivered a KO first? If the other party is KO, how canthey deliver a KO back? Or did they send it in the mail before getting the KO?

if you're amused by winding me up, I'll get along

we ask the supplier to deliver a line to our final customer
they can answer
- OK, we delivered it
- KO, we couldn't, and they explain why

we get back the supplier's feedback for our request, that is we can get either an OK or a KO back

if that's not correct english, I'm always happy to learn how to talk properly

the customer didn't get something and the supplier said they couldn't deliver it... I'm still not getting what's odd about this.

MoSe
21-07-2005, 14:43:15
go on, I'll take on everything....

[village idiot]
The customer *denied* he had received calls from the supplier, with a tone clearly meaning "they didn't even contact us, it's not our fault if they didn't come to deliver the line"

But it was the supplier IN THE FIRST PLACE who said they could not deliver the line BECAUSE they could not contact the customer...
[/village idiot]

practical example:

S: "you were untraceable, out of reach"
C: "that's not true, I never got any call from you"
Abbot & Costello material

OK, who's next?

:gotit:

Wait maybe here's the catch making it all so difficult for you:

When the supplier says he "could not" contact the customer, they don't mean they could not attempt to call him! They mean they DID call him, but could not REACH him, because the customer didn't answer!!!

I love playing the dumb, but I'm getting a little bored, so I guess I'll stop biting.

Besides, that's a real work case, and that's not comforting me.

I think I got it - only it was the supplier telling you - "I couldn't reach them!" and the customer telling you, "they didn't call!"

I really didn't understand before.

more or less, but actually, the customer didn't "accuse" the supplier of lying, i.e. that the supplier didn't actually call: the customer DENIED they received any call.

This would work if:
S: "you received my call (but then you weren't there for the agreed rendez-vous)"
C: "that's not true, I didn't receive any call"
OK, sounds quite right and logical

But:
S: "I could not reach you, you were untraceable (so I did not come)"
C: "that's not true, I didn't receive any call"
this is just... DO'H... mindboggling.

yeah, the supplier probably called in the afternoon, and was lazy/bastard enough to not try again the morning after

and the customer did not specify that the branch was only open in the morning
(and evidently had no answering machine, or the supplier didn't bother to leave a message)

:that was hard, but we got there:
