If Kirch Gruppe fails, it will not only trigger a scramble to snap up the World Cup and Formula 1 television rights.

It could also cause the collapse of several of Germany's top football clubs.

Germany's top league, the Bundesliga, is fuelled by money from the Kirch group, and there has been talk of government loan guarantees to keep the clubs going.

From HERE (http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/business/newsid_1915000/1915731.stm)

The whole thing is a brilliant comedy or a terrible tragedy, depending on how you like german football.

Personally I think it's another great Amigo story including Stober, certain bavarian banks (ahem) and Kirch.
The whole Bundesliga was Kirch's bitch ... SAT1, Kirch's top station destroyed the TV football by producing a behemoth football show called Ran. Interviews, ads, blah and, well, a little football! And they pushed the prices for TV sports events so high they made permanent losses (who want to view that shite).

So now it is down to England and Spain in the CL :bounce:.

German Bastards.

Sports on tv nowadays is 50% real sport, and 50% blabla about the sport. Moronic, slowbrained 'Experts' should be given a neckshot 3 times a day.

You know what happens to the german Bundesliga without the Kirch money ?

It will become like the Austrian Bundesliga.

Hahahhaha!!! Harrharrharr!!!!!

And Stoiber will become haider without Kirch. Well, at least there are the banks to save him (S, of course. K is dead meat)

Permiere had a loss of almost 1000000000 EUR (it looks impressive that way, and it's decimal, not binary) lats year. he concept never really worked. When I was working for a big Bavarian bank my credit limit was 1500 EUR. That's the secret of success: Dont trust your employees, trust your Amigos.
Or is that the secrete that sucks ....

Das saugende Sekret ? :vom:

Premiere's problem is that it offers little you don't get on free TV. Just not worth the money.

or it's too expensive.
Pro7 is Kirchs biggest success (or should I say only?). Cheap produced comedies and archive stuff from his immense arcieve vault. The recycling bin aka Sid Meier's Civilization

08-04-2002, 07:27:06
Sid Meier's Wanking Pro VII ?

Vincent Fandango
08-04-2002, 07:28:02
Sid Meier's SimKirchTV

08-04-2002, 07:31:38
Sid Meier's SimAmigo (aka Bavaria).

Interesting concept.

08-04-2002, 07:49:56
I think there is a game called "politics" (not just the big game with Scheißkopf Schröder vs Pisspage Stoiber, but a boardgame or so). Amigos or "how to make a monkey US president" could be a fun sim concept.

I think that could be a good game. You have to make friends in media (no taxes or something) and big companies first. The media people should behave somewhat erratic, so you have to deal with scandals etc. The big companies (like Piech Cars, HypnoVeritasbank Are watching you and keep firing at you if you fail to manage the mess. Try to blah everyone else, especially dog owners, car fetishists, smokers and/or buerocrats). Find friends in the pop culture sector (Scorpions, BAP, Verona & Naddel) without cunsuming too much cocain

You can buy a "telecomania" extension as well. Spend huge amounts of shareholder money for useless UMTS-licenses, based on this save taxes for your whole company, payed by all other tax paying idiots.

08-04-2002, 08:20:39
Get some overpaid construction work from your mafia friends, buy media companies and a football club, and become prime minister. (Berlusconi extension)

I guess a game about a media tycoon is more simple, the beginners edition. You can simply buy politicians and don't have to make "friends".

Kirch has now filed for insolvency procedure.

Will he retain parts of his empire ? Will Berlusconi make a sweep ? Will Murdoch enter the german market ? Will Stoiber come to the rescue ?

This has this cheap-soap-opera-dallas-like-feel to it....

The sad thing about it is, that the 99% shit channels Pro7 and Kabel1 are successful but Sat1, the 95% shit channel isn't. So what are they going to do? 99%!

I think Kirch derserves to got to hell because of his evil football show. He paid far too much for football, so he had to make this incredible boring show and fill it up with ads. It's like the "free webspace" sites ... ads, ads, ads

K1 isn't shit. It's there for all the old film rights from Kirch - which means it's often the only decent program, compared to the new shit.

K1 - the "Ausgelutschte-Rechte-Abspulstation"

For the anglosaxos: It's like Turner Classsic Movies.

Except it isn't classic movies but B movie strikes back

08-04-2002, 12:38:52
Well it's either old, or B-/TV-productions.

And I repeat that it is often better than the new shit.

That's the first sign of getting old!
I say Schmidt is far better than Raab.

08-04-2002, 12:51:33
1. Not the first sign. Trust me. Many signs show me.
2. Both suck.

Vincent Fandango
08-04-2002, 12:56:08
No, Schmidt is cool and exactly the kind of 21. Century aresehole I like to see on TV. He can do anything and he does (like doing a show with a black screen for 25 minutes).

Raab is just a fat guy with a ridiculous beard trying to be funny and producing outdated generic music with boring samples.

hey, wait ...

08-04-2002, 12:58:15
I think that's unfair to Raab.

Schmidt got worse over time. Booooring. And why did they steal the Letterman (or Leno?) studio background ?

Vincent Fandango
08-04-2002, 13:02:01
Schmidt has some brilliant ideas, his problems are: he earns to much money and he should stop his running gags. He's best when he just does what he knows best. Talking. Being an arsehole. Doing weird things. And I love that french girl.

Raab is like the wannabe school clown.

Rolleyes galore (http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,190745,00.html)

Very similar to what's happening over here in the UK with the collapse of ITV-Digital (killed from paying too much for the TV rights to tv football other than the Permiership games) allegedly threatening the future of some 30+ footie clubs, plus also the almost imminent collapse of NTL with an amazing 18 Billion quids worth of debts, again lot of that related to their pay-per-view football costs, their football club shirt sponsorship of more than 5 clubs, etc etc.

The thing is, there's so much football on tv thesedays, and most of it is shit. We've definitely reached saturation point and as was mentioned above, so many of the sports channels just churn out so-called "Expert" opionons all the time which is just diabolically dull.
I couldn't give a stuff if all these footie clubs hit the wall, it would serve them right for being so appallingly greedy. Footballs bubble needs to burst.

The problem is the lot: they paid a lot and now they have to insert a lot of ads. To add a lot of ads they have to add a lot of blahblahblahblah because there's too few football. And a lot of people won't watch it if it's too few fooball and a lot of advertizing/blah. But if the people don't watch it they don't get a lot money.
