Tomorrow I'm going to submit a formal request to switch to part-time work.

I'll be spending more quality time watching "Trisha".

Eh.

I already work whatever hours I feel like and they pay me the same.

That may be true, but I still feel infinitely superior and that's what counts.

I'd find being at home a nightmare. The best of luck with it anyway.

My tears are cold and black, like my heart.

It's down to economics. Mrs Gimp earns more than me.

And it's a very hot and summery day today.

God damn it! Now I am weeping tears of jealousy. I want to be a house husband who sits on his ass and watches talk shows all day. That'd be worth changing a fw diapers. ;)

Ellen. She's called Ellen.

The worrying part is that I didn't know who you were talking about.

No worries. It's not like it sees any use any more.

Vaguely jealous. Vaguely.

It's important to acheive some things in life and having children always seemed like a bad idea to me.

I mean, pushing a kid around here involves detours around burnt out cars and the occasional corpse.

So... yes, I'm jealous. But I really couldn't cope with spending MORE time indoors.

I mooted this idea with my boss but he seems to think I'd have to get paid less. I think he's missing the point!

Same as mine, stupid bosses.
When I rule the world, things will be different!!

Ruling the world sounds like hard work. Can you do it part time?

Tizzy

Stupidhead. I'll have minions to do the actual work.

Only if you're damn sure you won't get fired on your day off.

Funko
12-07-2005, 23:17:43
How can you get fired?

Immortal Wombat

ANAHN: Clearly it's a full-time job. So then there must be a person who works the days you are off. And since this person also rules the world, they can fire you.

No way, on some days the World can just sort itself out. Have fun. Chill.

Good luck, Laz. By a happy coincidence I was able to spend four months with my first boy when Mrs. BGH went back to work. It was a great bonding experience for us...but frankly, I'm better off at work because I do not have the patience for (my) children at that level of committment.
I'm sure you're more evolved than I, of course.

I'm lucky in that my job while classified as full time and pays like it, is part time. Same goes with the others in my dept (all 5 of us). Some rare weeks are real bastards, most aren't bad at all and 4 hours of serious work will get a days work done minus any damned meetings and clientel BS. Meetings drag the day out and clients just piss me off so I'm mad during that day - and if it's a client meeting, well then I know it'll be a terrific day. It's all nice until those realnasty weeks creep up - then I'm cursing that I'm not getting paid overtime for this and how much of a fool this or that client is and so forth. So it is a mixed blessing - it does allow me to continue this perpetual nightmare of education though.
