At least we're beating the Australians at Cricket, so it's not all bad.

Spartak

Spartak

Bit early to be too sure imho.

Funko
07-07-2005, 17:06:26
I didn't say "have beaten". :hmm:

Beats me how you tell

Funko

I know very little about cricket...

However

You tend to score faster at the end. So if you are roughly half their score in half the time, and haven't lost many wickets you should generally win comfortably.

So, basically it's our match to throw away.

Funko

122-1 off 28.3 now

Gary
07-07-2005, 17:09:18
Is that true ?!? I always thought you put your best batsmen in first (or near first) so the scoring ought to be faster at the start. Just the hopeless tail-enders after them.

Funko
07-07-2005, 17:10:29
That's true in Test Cricket, in One Day Internationals you have to make sure you don't lose wickets early on but towards the end of the innings, if you have wickets in hand, you can start taking more risks and going for more ambitious shots so you tend to score faster.

Don't forget, the Brits have this almost supernatural ability to collapse right in the middle of an innings.

Funko

149-1 off 34.4

Spartak

Spartak

Great result! This is just what Australia needs to become less complacent and come back and kick your ass twice as hard next time :)

I knew it was going to be an easy victory.

Let's get a bit of positism about English cricket. :)

That pitch was really odd.

That excuse for your thrashing was really odd.

Greg W
08-07-2005, 13:55:09
It wasn't an excuse. Both teams had to play on it. Just a crap pitch.

Funko

I don't really like cricket, I only watch the scoreboards online. :)

Greg W
08-07-2005, 14:07:37
And gloat on the rare occasions when you win. :p

Funko
08-07-2005, 14:11:06
That's what, 5 out of 7 now with one loss and 1 draw?

Greg W
08-07-2005, 14:13:34
No idea. I haven't been keeping count. But I odn't think we played each other that many times in the Natwest series...

That run includes the last test.

So?

We can only win the games we play.

What is it so far this season Won 4 Tied 1 Lost 1?

something like that.

Hey, you complained about including the test so I kept it to this season.

Let's take it back to 1888.

I don't have a strong conviction either way.

I wouldn't want to be a prisoner of convention, but I think I'd have to look up the answer in an Exilopedia.

Until then it's probably better to be guarded in what you say. Make sure you construct a decent sentence.

Spartak

Look it up on Cricinfo. There were tests in 1888.
