I'm in an absolutely fantastic mood!

Went for an interview today at a local college (www.pendcoll.ac.uk - they have been named as 'outstanding' by Ofsted and are in the top 10 percentile of colleges in the UK).

The interview was for a technician job. I'd be working over two Junior Technicians and under the Network Manager.

Four people were selected for interview, one of them being a graduate from Durham University and the other two were already working as techs. I didn't think I had a chance of getting the job, but they said I had a strong application form and a strong interview and have offered me the job!

I'm so, so, so happy - I was losing hope after a few rejections but it just shows that persistance pays off!

I want to celebrate with a big bottle of Lanson's but my gf doesn't get back from work for another few hours!

Congrats Matt!

Well done, when do you start?

21-06-2005, 19:07:33

A job where you get to work people over? Gitmo Bay interrogator?

Good job, anyhow.

The manager was really nice, she said they'd be contacting my referees tomorrow and I can start after my notice period at my current job.

I've just started my letter of resignation and I'm obliged to work 4 weeks notice - less some holidays that are owed.

I really can't wait to start; as working in insurance has really been getting me down. I'd love to just start next week but as my line manager is one of my referees I'll have to work the full notice period :(

Ah well, nothing better than being at work and knowing you're going to leave in a few weeks.

I'll miss the people I'm working with though as I've made some good friends and had a great laugh.

I just finished my letter of resignation, I'm sending it out today. I only have to give 2 weeks, and I won't miss anyone.

21-06-2005, 19:16:01
Here it is:

"It is with both regret and anticipation that I offer this letter of resignation, effective July 5th, 2005. I have decided to take this time to investigate new opportunities and evaluate my current goals, both personal and professional.

It has been a pleasure to work for the Company for the past four years. I have enjoyed working with a fine staff of colleagues and professionals, and am sure I will miss my time and associations here. I wish you and the Company continuing success in all future endeavors."

oh, and Satan lives in my computer

I don't feel one bit of guilt for leaving Esure.

They have pretty much wasted over 15,000 training me to be a specialist claims handler. I offered to work in their IT department but they weren't even willing to give me an interview - despite the fact they have been advertising for a technician for nearly four months now. Infact they wouldn't even let me shadow the department for a day or two just to get some experience.

21-06-2005, 19:23:13
My company hasn't made a product in over a year (at least in my division), the claim everything is fine and that we will be making half of what we made last year next year... Seeing as my job is to find ways to make more product cheaper, I don't think I see myself with a job for much longer... That, and since the cut back I've been getting in trouble every other day for no apparent reason.

Good for you Higgs!

Handed my notice in today. Four weeks to go :(

22-06-2005, 15:23:36
well done!

Those 4 notice weeks are always difficult. I did mine once over christmas so had to work every day of the holiday... :bash: (and my boss blanked me on my last day.. v. nice!)

I wanted Monday off in two weeks, as I'm going to an Oasis concert. It wasn't granted as there were too many people off :(

22-06-2005, 15:57:34
fuck em, pull a sicky, what are they going to do?

What a pointless pain-in-the-ass thing to do.

Unless you meant :brwncard: which is still a pain in the ass, but at least he gets off.

I send my letter out today, I talked with the Director of Manufacturing and he's kewl, but I don't report to him I just do work for him.

22-06-2005, 21:36:44
I just got reject by another company

and had to turn down an interview for another one

Funny, I felt bad on both accounts... and the one I got reject for I was more qualified for than the one I was getting the interview. It's hard to figure out what these companies are looking for.

23-06-2005, 07:13:13
Blonde hair and big tits?

23-06-2005, 09:57:18
Japher? Why would you turn down an interview?! Especially if you're looking for a new job. I don't feel it matters if you think you're underqualified, take a chance, you never know... :)

23-06-2005, 10:35:33
I thought Japher already had a new job.

23-06-2005, 10:56:03
Dunno, I'm confused.

23-06-2005, 12:12:42
I assume he turned down the interview because he's already got another job. Probably applied for loads of jobs at once, went to a few interviews in quick succession and some companies are contacting him because they obviously don't know he's already been hired by somebody else.

23-06-2005, 16:11:00
fp is right. I accepted my new job in Cincinnati on Tuesday. I appled to the company at the same time I applied for my new job, they were just very, very slow. The job interview I turned down would of paid more but was more boring and was in Tulsa.

I am happy with my decission.
