I used to go to LAN parties all the time a few years ago. Used to get some odd bearded people there.

Enjoyed it though, especially liked playing team based games like Counterstrike.

Beer is mandatory at all LAN parties. Or it should be anyways.

Five years ago I would have pointed and laughed at you people. Now through Battlefield 1942 I have been partially assimilated. I just need the thick rimmed specs held together with sellotape and the Red Dwarf T-shirt and my transformation would be complete.

Funny how everyone here plays computer games and it's kind of normal

but if anyone gets together and does the sociable thing like a LAN then it has some nerdy connotation

warped really

The Higgelhoff

I think it's normal to play computer games; but a little extreme to transport a huge PC, fiddle with network cards/settings etc... in the name of gaming.

Don't get me wrong, I loved LAN parties. The only reason I don't go now is due to lack of spare time. :)

Who's day is it?

You've just reminded me I was having a conversation this morning about who Tuesday is named after I have a feeling it's a god called Tiw but couldn't remember anything about him.

Sunday - sun
Monday - moon
Tuesday - Tiw
Wednesday - Odin (Woden)
Thursday - Thor
Friday - Freya/Frigg...

I have this feeling that we kept the Norse names for Tuesday to Friday and the French have the Roman equivalents so Tiw would be the same as Mars. (Mardi)

Curse my memory.

Although if that's right, I rule.

Far too mainstream for my tastes.

Compared to what I get up to, they are pretty mainstream.

Anyway, party organisers often frown when I slap my party bong down and start putting Rizlas together.

It's not the weed they're worried about, it's the scratches on the cases.

Cruddy
08-06-2005, 11:36:16
Well, I have no problems with taking an angle grinder to a PC case.

I'll happilly reset a computer or power it on by taking a pair of pliers to the right pair of pins.

I spend hours and hours getting other peoples PCs to work - just for fun.

I think COD is a poor game - no real variety, just learn the maps.

I argue with Asher. Need I say more? :)
